Castlevania Nocturne was a good time. Already need more, but it will be a while. At least Invincible S2 isnt too far off

His dialogue isn't worse than any other characters :p. Probably better than the villains who constantly praise the messiah...

Oh I mean the dialogue in general. Episode 6 is probably the worst offendor. I have nothing against swearing in your fantasy setting, but when it's nonstop like this is just makes it feel like a high schooler wrote it.

We're a couple of chapters from 236 and there's still like no reaction or interactions in the manga about what happened, like they show a few people with shocked expressions and then the fights continue. Honestly the result of the fight wasn't bad, but the aftermath and lack of acknowledgment of events really kill the character building. Cell Games has killed the world and character building, it's just all style and no substance fights.

Second RWBY x Justice League movie just released and was a hell of a lot better than the first one.

However it also requires a much more up to date knowledge of RWBY than the first one, so this is even more niche lol.

I never watched the first but saw some clips that made the rounds.

Ice queendom was really bad so I'm not terribly interested in any AU stuff from the series. Just hoping that crunchy roll renews them for two more seasons so they can end it with some measure of closure

I would actually say you can totally watch this second one without having watched the first one. I would actually recommend that since the good parts of the first one aren't even relevant to this one.

The actual Remnant content and character beats are all based on it being a post V9 setting for the cast, so oddly enough it feels kind of like a between V9 and 10 special, and even hits moments that I was hoping V10 would (and hopefully still will).

You know, I've seen RWBY come up so much over the years. I tried getting into it a couple times but the early stuff is just so bad there's no way.

Is there a better entry point into whatever that is or is it the kind of thing you just gotta watch from the beginning?

The first season of RWBY is tough. Obviously once you're on board it's charming to go back to, but it's not something that has held up as much as some people insist it has. Really I'd say to just tough it out since it's so short. I guess it...might help to skip episode 13 and 14? It's only like 12 minutes total though. Episodes were short as hell back then.

Season 2 is still a little rough here and there but it's a major improvement. Sure, the show doesn't get it's visual overhaul until season 4, but 2 and 3 are held up by the action direction. Really season 1 is the only big hurdle.

Well, season 5 is a hurdle for a diffrrent reason...but it's not thaaaaaaaat bad.

It's only started this year, but going to strongly recommend the new series Far East Chimera. Like where this one is going a lot, and it looks great.

I've been watching Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You... but then I rage-quit halfway through episode nine of the second season and I don't think I have it in me to go back.

The first season was really good but... my god, this is one of the worst cases I've ever seen of an anime turning to complete dogshit in the second season. Like this is legitimately some of the crappiest, most forced drama I've ever seen. The number of times the two main characters almost had a moment together only for some clueless friend to stumble into the scene going "HEY GUYS WHAT'S UP???" has me thinking the author is just outright trolling the audience at this point. I wouldn't have even thought it was possible for two sentient beings to have some of the misunderstandings Sawako and Kazehaya are having. My fucking god, how can they both confess to each other in the most direct way the Japanese have and somehow both walk away from that conversation thinking the other rejected them. And then, weeks later, Sawako finally musters the courage to confess again and they almost have a moment again only for some douchebag faceless friend to stumble into the scene and ruin it again and Sawako runs away from the conversation thinking she was rejected again even though Kazehaya was literally hugging her and about to kiss her a second ago is just ughhhhh...

I really did like the first season. Sawako was great and cute. I liked how people thought she was strange but she was just such a sweet girl that it didn't get her down and it always worked out in the end. Kazehaya was a good dude doing his best to get close to her, and they even avoided the dumb misunderstandings that would usually cripple a romance anime. Ayane, Chizuru, and Ryu, they were all great too. Then in the second season the main couple took approximately a thousand steps back for the most contrived reasons ever, and the entire supporting cast seemingly only exists to express frustration at how lame everything has become. Like all of them know exactly what the misunderstandings are and they never, ever try to step in and actually fix things. It's infuriating.

I started watching this because I thought it was neat that an old anime is getting a surprise third season over a decade later, but even if I muster up the courage to finish season two, I really don't want to find out what the eventual season three might have in store...

Ouch. Kinda like my reaction to Shield Hero and especially Part Timer seasons 2. Should drop those, but keep hanging on for some false hope or something.

What I really liked about the first season was that the misunderstandings made sense and the characters did everything they could to resolve them. At one point, Kazehaya even grabbed Sawako's arm and took her to a place where they wouldn't be interrupted so he could ask her about a potential misunderstanding! I don't know where that guy went but I missed him deeply in S2.

I'm glad to hear the ending is nice. I guess I will finish it. A crappy season with a nice ending sounds less frustrating than not seeing the nice ending.

^ hell yeah! Friday lunchtime is my Kenshin/Goblin Slayer doubleheader so is always hype, Kenshin not so much this week but love the SoL-ness of this week's Goblin Slayer (and hype for next week)

loved last week's Spy x Family so much I might just rewatch it before the new ep tomorrow too

Of the three premieres I watched tonight. (dubs finally dropped)

1. Magus Bride S2 P2 (though that has an unfair advantage, being the best outright)
2. Goblin Slayer S2 (It's just nice seeing these characters again)
3. Shield Hero S3 (This show has some work to dig out of that trench S2 put it in)

I'm pretty sure SpyxFamily will beat all of them, but again, totally unfair. It is my favorite show. I just wish I had the episode tonight, rather than later.

Bruh she's stretching this last volume out into years.

Oh yea I ended up starting Frieren as a random pick of the season that has been getting good talk.

6 episodes watched, it's quite comfy and sweet! Glad it avoids some trappings of fantasy animes and the premise is neat. Characters are fun so far and yea that dragon fight was surprisingly nicely animated.

That seems like a weird definition of the word comfy

I dunno the lessons being shown and how it's relatively lowkey so far makes it a comfy show for me, I've been watching it wrapped in a soft blanket sitting in a comfy chair too

Man I dunno if I can keep waiting weekly for Undead Unluck. I'm honestly very interested in what happens in this thing.

However, I got caught up to date on the Shy manga after episode 1 and now I'm struggling to stick with the anime even though it's good, so I don't want that to happen here too....

Idk man I'm a hater of undead. I think for all it's uniqueness it ends up being quite a generic shonen. Maybe this anime will change my mind because the production and directing is pretty solid.

Last new anime of the season finally airs tomorrow. Been really looking forward to this one!

I'm kind of curious if the production is warping my perception of it.

I went ahead and bought the first three volumes of the Dark Gathering manga. Just got done reading the first one. It's really good! I prefer the anime, mostly because I think I'll always prefer anime to manga. The anime also expanded a few scenes for the better, in my opinion. It was neat seeing little differences like that. The manga has its own positives too, though. Each chapter ends with a bonus page that's like a blooper from a movie, like showing the characters flub a line or having a scene play out radically differently than it actually did. One of those outtake pages made me laugh out loud. I love Dark Gathering.

It looks like the anime will go way further than what's currently available in English for the manga. Still, I'll definitely keep up with it as new volumes release. That means this will be the first manga I actually follow along with!

It's nice to have SpyxFamily back. Even better was a Yor-centric episode that wasn't about Fiona, and actually showed off some of the assassin stuff.

It's more that the show is designed so that Yor and Loid will probably never separate, so Fiona's superfluous advances don't do anything for me. It doesn't help she rarely showed any character other than "Loid, but female." It's "fine," but has a shelf life. If the Yor thing wasn't established right from episode 2, or if Fiona showed up way sooner, I could actually get into it more.

Triple length premier for Apothecary....this is getting a bit tiring. Makes me feel like I'm behind on a show before it even starts.

It's one thing if it's something like Oshi no Ko where they've intentionally set it up to start like that, but from what I can tell from the descriptions, Apothecary's start is just 3 normal episodes. Oh well, will see once I get to it.

At least for Apothecary Diaries it's justified for starting later in the season.

Hmm true, didn't consider it was being done out of necessity rather than by plan.

I watched the first three episodes of The Apothecary Diaries. I'm a sucker for this kind of herbalist character, and it's definitely doing a good job. Still, given that it's about a girl solving mysteries in a fantasy Chinese-inspired imperial palace, I can't help but compare it to Raven of the Inner Palace. So far at least, I enjoyed Raven a lot more.
