They used the term mutants and I know this is a marvel property but it doesn't seem to be actually X-Men. I know nothing about this show except it was recommended to me after Mr. Robot.

Im at episode 2. I'd be surprised if David is not genuinely mentally ill beyond his powers. I'm curious how the show will ultimately treat the issue of mental health.

Also "memory work" and "talk work" seems like potentially its own brainwashing lol. I mean how would it be different than what he already did at the hospital besides enhanced by powers? Idk if it's intended that I don't feel comfortable trusting anyone, including David.

David is a Marvel character, but it's probably best not to look him up.

anyway, I really enjoyed the show, and I appreciate how different it was from other Marvel properties.

The 1st season is very ambiguous into what David is, what's going on, and what's reality vs illusion. However, it ends very strongly and the 2nd season is very good, so hang in there.

I get the feeling that if this was MCU I wouldn't even be watching it. I miss when comic book properties had more creative freedom on what the world is like and what genre it will be. I guess there was Wandavision but I didn't see that, and it seems the exception

It's probably the best X-Men live action adaptation, though I think it's a little unfair to say that because it's not really even connected all that much, at least not in any meaningful way other than the term "mutants". It's more of it's own beast and it does what it does very well.

What else has the David actor been in?

Legion is the best Marvel live series (both movie or TV) by such a long shot it's silly.

He was in that Eurovision movie on Netflix. He was great in it lol

It's a good thriller so far. A lot of nonlinear storytelling.

Strange that the weird seemingly bloodied tape recorder box is still left in the office, you'd think that'd have been collected as evidence or something

I think this scene of The Eye slowly approaching them is supposed to be epic but it's too comical to think all the swat agents are shooting around him perfectly

David's actor has this thing where his delivery almost always has this slight comedic edge to it

Yeeeaah that was the weakest ending to an episode so far. David/Oliver plot aborted, characters act stupid to drive plot, girl whose power is she hits people runs towards a guy with a gun and gets shot. And them not reading disguised Eye's mind because "he wanted to talk" also facilitated all this

Oh I wrote all that but the reason I started writing it was the effect at the end where the ghost Lenny/Benny looked excited behind David at the end looked way worse than the effects in the show normally do

I love this show so much. Ive watched through it several times.

Yknow they talk about how David is too powerful a telekinetic to lose but we still have this unnamed character who flings chunks of metal and earth like he's playing Garry's Mod

It's one of the best adaptation of an X-Men property.

So Lenny has institutionalized them because they're still locked in the moment of the bullets flying and Lenny can't stop them so this is what's left

Meanwhile they're dreaming of Oliver

Nearly this entire credits sequence was producers, executive producers, co-executive producers, and co-producers. Can't imagine most of them actually did any work

I've been really enjoying the show to he clear, but I do want to say i still find it very silly that the telekinetic who fired the machine gun is still unnamed and they even write him out of the hospital by having him be the klonopin

Now he was just shown to be stabbed upstairs at the same time? And there was this weird montage ending with Cid almost putting the glasses on him but putting them on Carrie instead

So Klonopin'd guy had been faked by The Eye. But are we about to get a burial scene without knowing his name

Still not clear how the explosion happened. I had figured it was Carrie or Ptonomy at the time. Maybe that's Melanie. I had thought she may be a telepath though since they said they had felt David's awakening, which made me think she was a professor X analog. But evidently that is not her power

Also why not have Ptolomy read his mind

So I guess Oliver being possessed is the hook for season 2

A wee bit disappointing imo after they went through so much work to kill this villain whose character is basically "I'm EVIL"

That first season was so intriguing, I enjoyed this show so much initially. Never have I been so disinterested in a show based on unappealing promo shots and vague descriptions, only to watch the first episode on a whim and instantly love it.

My bad man, but, what I said should have already been shown before the end of season one, which you said you finished watching.

I mean, they don't beat you over the head with it or outright state it, but enough visual clues and information are provided to be able to put 2 and 2 together, regarding David's parentage.

This is one of my top favorite segments of the entire series

The unique/surreal stylistic choices are what really sets the show apart from usual Marvel fare and what made it so interesting to watch.
