1 layer spikes = 10%
2 layer spikes = 15%
3 layer spikes = 20%

Stealth Rock 0.25x = 2.5%
Stealth Rock 0.5x = 5%
Stealth Rock 1x = 10%
Stealth Rock 2x = 20%
Stealth Rock 4x = 33%

Webs and Toxic Spikes are fine as-is

I miss battling tbqh regardless, but I don't wanna shell out for the new one if they aren't gonna fix it

C stealth rock can eat shit. People that whine about boots just don't understand how overpowered a one turn move that can blank half of all pokemon and think it's chill.

I mean, there are multiple ways to clear it. It's broken, but hardly the only broken thing in the game and not unbeatable.

Additional

Steel types don't get hurt by spikes
Bug types gain +1 speed on web
Add a move that allows you to shoot hazards back and inflict damage based on how many shot back (does not re-lay them on your opponents side)

E.g.

Whirling Kick
Type: None
BP: x
PP: 10
Description: The user kicks all entry hazards on the user's side back at the opponent, dealing increased damage and type based on the quantity of hazards removed.

Spikes x 1: +20 BP
Spikes x 2: +40 BP
Spikes x 3: +60 BP
Rocks: +30 BP & makes whole move rock type (including BP from normal spikes)
Toxic spikes x 1: +20 BP & poisons target
Toxic spikes x 2: +40 BP & badly poisons target
Web: lowers target's speed

Something like that

So as someone that up through Sun and Moon still adored Pokmon games, are the new ones worth a try or are they still too broken or lacking?

SR is garbage because of how it fucks over some Pokmon with one turn of set up. Spikes at least requires a few turns before it gets strong.

I always thought that they should make it so that you can't die from stealth rock and spikes. Like if you're a flying type that's at 17% health and switch into stealth rocks then it should bring you to 1 HP and that's it.

SR is so good and widely available that even hyper offensive teams have tended to include it. But yeah, 6v6 singles is optimal for hazards due to how often pokemon enter the field. In 4v4 doubles, they are much worse.

I think Steel types cutting Spikes damage in half would be more balanced than an outright immunity. Theyre already immune to ToxicSpikes, Sandstorm, resist SR, and are typically slow, therefore not bothered by Sticky Web. Not to mention its a pretty OP defensive type even outside of those qualities.

the Bug Buff and inability for hazards to KO are great ideas, though.

Lets also make Shield Dust act like a built-in Heavy Duty Boots, like in Radical Red

Rock types should be able to absorb SR and gain a little health on switch in. It would buff the rock type and be a decent nerf.

It's not existent in higher competitive 4x4 doubles. It's either inviting set up by the other team or for the hazard pokemon to get knocked out quickly.

Just make it so Pokemon 4x weak to Rock take 25% from Stealth Rock like 2x weak ones do. That way 4x weak ones aren't punished extra hard and totally crippled by it unless they run the item to counter it. Anything else would be a bonus, but that's the simplest bare minimum solution.

I like these ideas too. Especially the one that says hazards can never KO, Shedinja would really appreciate that one.

Run some of the few Pokemon with abilities that nullify or lessen the effectiveness of spikes so some of the opponents mons essentially almost lose a move off their movelists or the turns they waste setting up are wasted turns.
