They respond to stimuli but there's nothing to suggest they feel pain in the same way animals do. Who really knows though?

I don't understand people who unleash their dogs in public. Leashes exist for a reason: to protect both the dog and other people, because even the most well-behaved dogs can act irrational given the right stimuli.

They're simply entitled assholes. That's all there is to it.

My main concern was the dog tripping me, followed by me hurting the dog. It weaved between my feet before latching onto me, so my options were to keep running and possibly kick her out of the way or stop and give her the opportunity to bite, which I regrettably chose this time out of too much respect for the owner.

Dangerous is relative.

Will a chihuahua kill me like a pit bull could? No. Is there a variety of other bad things that can happen that are avoidable by simply leashing dogs? Yes.

I don't want to hurt an animal if I don't have to. I don't want to risk infection from a dog bite or the dog getting in trouble for biting me. I don't want a dog to trip me while I'm running on cement. I don't want to unintentionally kick a dog mid-stride and send it retreating into traffic. I don't want entitled assholes to have a flimsy reason to go off on me for their bad behavior.

It's not just about what the dog can do to me, but people with your really stupid and selfish perspective aren't capable of understanding those risks or the fact that they shouldn't get to subject others to them. That's why these laws exist and why it's just common sense and decency to abide by them.

I would say it depends on where they are when they unleash their dogs. It's not an all or nothing deal.

It's dumb when people bring them up to deflect from pit bulls and other more serious dog attacks but chihuahuas are aggressive, territorial, fragile, and stupid. They absolutely do attack people commonly but we'll never have anything close to accurate numbers because they're often unreported since no one is seriously injured or killed, which are not the only reasons to care about a dog at large.

Thank you. He's a regular at the park, so I doubt this is the end of it.

The only place for them to be unleashed is a place that allows it. Outside of that, there are leash laws for several reasons that should be respected, if for no other reason than the dog's safety.

The first time I saw a kubaton, it was laying on the bathroom vanity at a goth girl's house during a party. I had no idea what it was and thought she just had a sex toy out in the open. I made a joke about it and everyone laughed at me when it was explained to be a self-defense weapon.

A neighbor reported him because, surprise surprise, he lets her do this all the time and she was in someone's yard antagonizing a fenced in dog, then displayed aggression toward another person. The dog is at least going to be put on a list.

One instance of repercussions isn't going to change a lifetime of poor/non-existent training from the owner though. And that would have just given the owner more of a reason to act like a psycho.

Happened to me once while walking down the street with a dog that had gotten out. I could've been hit by a car trying to back off since I ended up crossing the street. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt and the owner rescued me, but nobody should own a dog like that. Too bad a car didn't hit the dog though...
