I didn't end up going to wait in line or anything. I decided that because what I wanted would be available in the count of 8,000 that it would likely be available for purchase the day after RSD online. I was right, but it sold out almost immediately after I snagged a copy. I'm sure it's still available here and there though at local record stores.

Honestly nothing else really interested me this year. This will be nice to listen to though given it isn't going to be released through other official channels.

Not this year.

I'm into buying vinyl but can't really afford to spend any money right now. I just started a new job and when I get my first paycheck this Friday the bank is probably going to hold it for who knows how many days. So I'm trying not to spend any money on unnecessary stuff.

Sorry to hear though in my opinion RSD is a little blown up anyways. There's good finds to dig year around. Congratulations on the transition to the new job btw!

Unfortunately, at least not yet. Nothing on the list that I really wanted, plus I have a bunch of vinyl yet to play (one is the new TMR Vault Elephant mono release, so I wanna listen to the original stereo immediately before), stayed up until 4am watching the Coachella streams, going to an 11 day music fest in July and gonna buy a bunch if merch, etc etc etc, so I don't wanna tempt myself by heading out. The fact that the weather is gross helps.

Fair, I have a budget I try to stick with every paycheck for vinyl so I don't go overboard. It's so easy to do just that.

Understandable. I decided when I started collecting I wouldn't go back too far for my collecting otherwise my spending would probably get way out of hand. There's just so much I'd want that aren't new releases it would be overwhelming, tbh.

Yeah that's a big plus. If I couldn't listen to music all day I'd be pretty upset about it.

Yea I thought I'd be able to get Beach House-Become online today but it was sold out at my record store. I can't find it anywhere else.

Sorry to hear that. It looks like discogs doesn't have it at the moment for a reasonable price either. The cheapest one is like $56. I hate flippers.

i tried a couple years ago, but the only local place wasn't doing anything. i always say i'll go out of my way to pick up the Garbage release, and then never do.

this year, though, i have a better excuse... i'm completely broke.

That's a good attitude. Also good to hear they're releasing it again and on streaming platforms soon. I would still like to have it in my digital library.

I haven't heard it yet as I ordered it today online through Rough Trade Records, so it just got fulfilled earlier today and I'm waiting for it in the mail.

Sorry to hear that. I am currently pretty low on my budgeted "fun" funds for this paycheck, but not completely broke.

If I wanted to I don't think I could have picked up more anyways.

Theres rarely anything Im interested in for RSD, either gimmick stuff or re-releases of old records that usually arent hard to find

i do like going to browse if the store is having a sale on non-RSD stuff, but my local store wasnt this year

ill probably go next week and see if they have anything good in the bargain bin

I tried to get the Macho Man release but every store in Sacramento only got one copy of it. What a joke.

nah rsd is wack now. buying records in general is kinda wack. marked up prices and missing out on stuff because you didn't wake up early enough. i still buy stuff but it isn't fun anymore lol.

I still have fun preordering stuff when I'm looking forward to music that's coming up while supporting the artists I enjoy, but I admit the whole RSD thing sort of reeks of black friday energy lol.

I read this piece last year about how RSD basically cannibalizes the production schedule for vinyl the rest of the year

so since the Prince estate or whatever wants to get out some gimmick picture disc reissue or some shit, independent bands are shut out of production and cant get their product on shelves when their music releases

independent records basically are forced to plan their whole year around record store day

Never heard of it. I buy cds, not records. Don't have a record player and I can't take it on the go. They're also kinda expensive for a good one. Although I'll admit that records have superior sound quality.

It's been 3 days and the post office is still waiting on the package from rough trade (us)

My last order, they got it in 1 day

This. RSD is pretty boring to me these days.

I'd rather just get a flat 30% discount on whatever I buy at whatever store. DGAF about all these special RSD editions of things. More than half the time you just end up finding them in the used/preowned sections a few months later.

i'll still get the coolest variant if it's available, but i have so many cool colors that it's not a big deal if i miss out anymore.

Ever since the owner of the record store I frequented died of cancer I haven't really made an effort to buy any vinyl or browse CDs. The store is still there but it was bought out by a competitor from a city over.

But to be honest, I wasn't aware that this was a thing.

But to be even more honest, I still wouldn't have participated even if I had known it was a thing.

nothing i saw that i really wanted. a lot of the RSD stuff does get pressed later, so i'll just wait and see.

Yeah, I've got pretty much ever colour and combo you could imagine, so it's not a big deal for me.

I do have an inverted cross shaped die cut record though. I think that's pretty unique.
