And surprise! He hates that Christians are trying to be less homophobic:

To adopt any part of the worlds view on the question of homosexual marriage or homosexual acts, you simply have to deny, implicitly or explicitly, the truth and authority of Christianity. A person cannot go to the moon without leaving earth . . . In the same way, a person cannot adopt the morality of modern society without leaving the Christian faith behind. (p.99).

If Jesus existed, I have a feeling he would be more liberal than conservative, based on how he is described. I feel like there is a huge disconnect between the tales of Jesus, and modern Christianity. Or even medieval. Probably the very first version of the religion was quite different. I think everything got corrupted at the Council of Niacea. Where they hammered out all the rules and solidified the Bible. Those men at that event were driven by politics to make their choices. And they probably went against the teachings of the man they claimed to worship.

If Jesus came back I bet he would not recognize his own religion

Saying that there existed a rabbi named "Yesha" is kind of like saying "there's an engineer somewhere named Tony Stark" if the only resemblance they have is the name then for all pragmatic discussions it means he doesn't exist.

If I write a biography about Chuck Norris and include his feats from jokes as serious things that actually happened then it means the biography is a work of fiction.

The consensus in Jesus studies remains that he was historical. It is worth noting that the overwhelming majority of historians who work in the field are literally contractually obligated to say that not only Jesus was real but also their personal savior.

Among secular scholars the consensus still favors historicity, but is significantly weaker. It should also be pointed out that even just 30 years ago the consensus among scholars was that Moses was historical, whereas now you have to go to a specifically theistic scholar to find anyone taking that position.

Jesus's time may well be coming. I for one am quite convinced that he's mythical.

If everyone is so sure he existed, someone please link me the proof. For I have never seen it. Everyone always says "historians agree he existed" but never show the evidence. As I have said everytime this debate comes up, as far as I am aware, all non biblical mentions of Jesus are just people saying "Christians exist as a new weird religion. They worship some guy Rome executed"

That doesn't count as proof of Jesus. It's just proof that those people heard the stories

And furthermore people who should be able to tell us real facts about the man like Paul are completely silent about him. Then we get forgeries in Paul's name after the gospels are written that are basically "nuh-uh, we didn't make him up" which is interesting because even back then when there should be at least a couple of guys who knew a guy who knew Jesus still alive there were people saying he was fictional.

It's weird to phrase homophobia with an analogy about space travel where you're making an analogous argument against landing on the moon because you have to leave earth. Wouldn't you theoretically leave earth when jumping? Are we not supposed to jump? This doesn't make any sense!

Matt Walsh and other people like him have this tendency to make grand proclamations because they want to be the boss of everybody, but they clearly lack credibility because they never show results of hard work or effort that bears any fruit. All they got is talking points, tweets, and stale memes.

Matt Walsh, on the record, concurs also that Biblical morality concludes that girls should be wed to men and impregnated at 16 because "they're most fertile at that age" and why would God make it that way were it not his intention.

They're only mentioned in the gospels which are frankly worthless as establishing his actual historicity.

The evidence for Jesus is pathetically flimsy. Mind you the arguments for mythicism have no smoking gun I can point to, just lots and lots of little "Huh, that's weird" things that when you string them all together paint a picture of a preexisting angelic figure who was later turned into a man, like Romulus, Osiris, and others.

This is an ironically apt analogy in the sense that Christianity (and organized religion as a whole) is holding humanity back. People like Walsh don't want us to go to the moon. He wants us stuck on Earth. Everyone needs to shed their religious "faith" and come into the 21st century.

I remembered this suddenly

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docetism?wprov=sfla1

That there used to be arguments on what Jesus actually was in the early days. Some said he was like how modern Christians see him. A demigod. That won out in the end at the Council of Niacea

But some thought he was just a man, like Muhammad

And some thought he never was human or had a physical body. Which is what that link is about I think. If some people doubted he even was a human, how can we say there was historical proof that he existed? Some people even 2 thousand years ago, saying he was just a ghost, tells me he probably never actually was around in the first place. If he actually was a fleshy man walking around at one point, people would not have even thought about this ghost idea
