At the end of the day, no one has to use twitter.

If you're on there for financial gain, then pony up. If a blue check means something to you, pony up. No one, literally no one, has to use that service. It's not some free site sponsored by the government that we have a right to use.

Maybe video games should be bumped up to $120 so you can sit in your corner and laugh at how cheap and entitled people are.

In 1990 video games were the equivalent of $140 today. That's the base price for AAA SNES games. Some games were nearly $100 during that generation in that time's money.

Corporations have the right to charge whatever they want for their services. It's up to us, the consumer, to buy it or not.

I'm just happy that @LeoRavus has solved the economy. There are no issues because no one has a right to services from private companies. Businesses set prices and we either pay them or shut the fuck up. We should never hear another complaint about the cost of anything from this day forward. Literally anything you can think of has a Twitter account and it is the fastest way to spread news and awareness of everything. The Internet is supposed to be the way to keep everyone connected and transmit information instantly, but now it's all gonna be paywalled before long because "That's how business works. You don't have a right to the Internet. Pay or shut up"

A. Having to pay for your status as a verified public figure is fucking stupid

B. The value of the checkmark is easily nullified by anyone and their grandmother being able to pay for it

C. Any dumbass can now more easily impersonate a public figure and make shady tweets.

Walking down the video game aisle at Toys R Us during that gen was insane. Devs charged whatever they wanted for games. It wasn't standardized like it is today.

It's now asking celebrities, journalists, and government officials to pay for the status symbol now primarily held by crypto scanners and people with strongly held views on something they call "Western Civilization." It has marketed this product as a way to make the liberal elites cry.

The checkmark is no longer one of verification. Anyone can buy it and there's no verification that your account is who it says it is.

And guess what even if they don't post there, someone else can still make an account that looks like them, part buy the checkmark, and start scamming people.

Twitter has been one of the biggest websites on the planet for years. The invention and improvement of the Internet made news and other information spread quickly, but Twitter has made it instantaneous. The blue checkmark allowed anyone with relevance, not just actors who annoy you with woke, to formally verify their identity so you knew the information coming from them was legitimate. That no longer exists. Now, the new Twitter Blue checkmark just means you paid for Twitter. Anyone can get a checkmark and they can claim to be whoever they want.

The issue has nothing to do with $84 being too expensive for rich celebrities, or their opinions mattering. Again, the site is one of the biggest in the world and those like you are still pretending it's nothing more than some Hollywood hugbox. Apparently anything can be ruined for no reason as long as celebrities you don't like are among the affected. Who cares if that information on a death or natural disaster response is bogus? C-list actors are triggered, so that's a win!
