Damn that's sad, they lost all of their major sports teams within like several years. The Warriors only moved over the bridge but still.

30000-35000 seats with all that land available is certainly a choice. It'd likely be the smallest ballpark as Cleveland has about 34000

Golly gee, you mean to say that local fans weren't showing up despite the fact the ownership has been actively shopping for relocation for years and have been intentionally fielding shitty teams for even longer?

Oaklanders have had zero reason to support the A's for at least a decade.

They've been in the playoffs 6 times this past decade.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

constantly going to the playoffs in a brand new stadium is a completely different idea than constantly going to the playoffs in an outdated stadium that people don't want to attend

the majority of people i know won't go to an A's game because of the coliseum. i know this from first-hand experience. i talk to a lot of people about the A's, very often, and the old stadium with bad traffic and neighborhoods around it are the bad part of the entire subject. sure we can sell out playoff games, but we definitely cannot sell out normal games anymore, we haven't been able to for more than ten years (and even then it was only when we played the Yankees or Red Sox).

if the A's would pay for a state-of-the-art stadium in Oakland, and continued to see the success they did, it would be successful. but it's clear the ownership doesn't want to stay in the Bay Area, if they'll front the cost in Vegas. and it's clear that the city cares more about housing and other concerns than keeping a professional team.

Oakland loves sports but didnt want to bankrupt their city for a bad baseball team and a football team that could barely even afford their own team.

Man that better be walkable from the strip. They should build another pedestrian pass more north of the strip. Using that same walkway down by Mandalay bay to get to allegiant THEN having to go north would suck.

Depends how north and west, but since there's way more baseball games in a season I'd imagine thay'll make it walk-able from somewhere middle strip.

Are they gonna change their name? There was a hole in my heart when the Washington Football Team changed their name to the Washington Commanders, so I'm hoping this new baseball team with be called the Las Vegas Football Team (and yes I know that doesn't make sense and some people will be confused by it, but that's half the point. It's fun and whimsical).

It will def sell if not sell out every game. The Triple A aviators from the A's. is in under Summelin and averages almost 8k a game. One of the highest in the minors and actually more than the A's. It's also gonna be just north of Allegiant as well.

Every time I see a sports team is moving it makes me happy, because it probably means some local politicians out there refused to bankrupt their city/state in order to dole out some corporate welfare to one of the most profitable enterprises in human existence. Good on you, Oak-town.

The Athletics have played in three cities already. no need to change for the fourth. they might change colors, though. the other city teams all use a lot of black.

oh that's a good point. Now that you mention it, I remember they were originally in Philly up until like the 40s or 50s and moved out west at the same time as... at least one other Northeast team. I can't remember if the move was at the same time as the (baseball Giants) or the Brooklyn Dodgers or both. I know 2/3 if not all 3 teams moved west around the same time.
