The Warriors are not taking Draymond Greens suspension well. ESPNs Adrian Wojnarowski described the team as livid with the decision to ban Green for a pivotal Game 3 after the forward stomped on Kings star Damontas Sabonis during Golden States Game 2 loss Monday night, which gave Sacramento a 2-0 series lead. One word: livid. They certainly didnt agree with the one-game suspension and were certainly surprised about that, Wojnarowski said on Get Up! on Wednesday morning. They are going to have to live with it. There is nowhere to go with an appeal in this situation. The incident led to Green getting a flagrant 2 and ejected from the game. Sabonis, who received a technical, grabbed Greens foot, and some have argued Green had no other choice with the way he responded.

The NBA did not see it that way, however, and pointed to Greens status as a repeated offender as the reasoning behind the decision. Heres what it came down to: Excessive and over-the-top actions, conduct detrimental and a repeat offender, NBA Executive VP Joe Dumars told ESPN. Thats what separates this where you end up with a suspension. Dumars was asked if the Warriors being down 2-0 in the series, and essentially having their season on the line in Game 3 on Thursday night, played any factor in the thought process. You know what the situation is, but you have to set that aside and look at the facts in front of youRepeat offender weighs as heavy as anything, Dumars told the site. ESPN noted that Green has 163 career technical fouls, 17 ejections and now four suspensions in a career that also includes four NBA championships with Golden State. Green was famously suspended during the 2016 NBA Finals for hitting LeBron James in the groin near the end of Game 4, leading to a one-game suspension that opened the door for the Cavaliers to rally from a 3-1 deficit in the series.

I bet he wouldnt have gotten suspended if he had stopped to see if Sabonis was okay and didnt run to the crowd and taunt everybody about it

he claims he was trying to protect his head, and given the position he was in, that seems totally reasonable.

edit: and as others have pointed out, Draymond's response afterwords was not indicative of someone who just accidentally hurt another person. he stormed away and did a hulk flex at the crowd. he was furious with them for chanting "Draymond sucks" and his emotions got the best of him (as often happens with this dude)

He tries to push off his foot. He gets a little off the ground but it's locked. He tries again with more force to pull out of the lock, he catches on the guy's arm, and his weight forces him to stomp that foot back down because his front foot was already in motion.

Basically, he tripped. You ever trip a bit over something with one foot while the other foot is already in motion? The tripped foot plants harder to catch yourself.

stomping on your opponent and then taunting the audience, which included Adam Silver, probably will do it for getting a suspension.

then explain his behavior after it happened. if he accidentally tripped on the dude, why didn't he stop and help him up. or say sorry. or do ... i dont know, anything else besides rush off in a pathetic display of alphadom by yelling and doing a hulk flex at the crowd?

I agree with the suspension mostly because of his reaction and his history. I could see it either way with just the action itself.

i don't feel sorry for green considering his history. but the series has been physical with the kings goading draymond as well as sabonis doing non basketball move related stuff to him, not just in that game either. the flagrant 2 was enough imo and i've seen players and ex players share that opinion.

but again, i don't feel sorry for him. and the kings are my team so that makes it easier for them, lol. light the beam.

I've said this before and I'll say this again--Yes, I have had my ankles wrapped up in BJJ and Wrestling on many occasions while standing over someone else. I've never had to stomp on their sternum (or any other part of their anatomy) to stop myself from falling over. You usually just... Take a step back with your rear leg and try to pull away from them if you're trying to run away from them. I can assure you they were also putting in a far more concerted effort to trip me than Sabonis was against Draymond, including using their hands instead of their forearms. No, my ankle never magically snapped in half either from the effort.

I don't get dudes who ask this shit like people in real life haven't played sports before. I've played a lot of sports, including ones that actually involve hitting people. I've never had to stomp on another person. It's been really easy to avoid. More so, if I had a choice between stomping on someone or taking a break fall, I would choose the break fall.

Granted, if I wanted to stomp on somebody's chest, I would basically do exactly what Draymond did. Straight up and straight down. It's pretty good stomping technique I guess.

The alternate angle of the altercation shows that Sabonis didn't even grab him but was clearly protecting his face since Draymonds is known for kicking people.

Even as a warrior fan, I'm sick of Draymond's shit. If he's as smart and in control as he says he is, he would've flopped to get the tech on just Sabonis.
