I can offer you information that will help make the experience generally easier. For example, a really strong weapon that's easy to use is the Great Scythe. Getting the weapon is kind of a pain since it's in the Catacombs though.

Sorceries can also be a big help since they let you safely pick off enemies from a distance.

Permanent death is too easy. It is a simple release from the suffering. Dark Souls is more about prolonging the suffering.

The idea that Souls games need a story mode implies there is a narrative worth a damn in any of them to actually experience, which is patently false and renders the idea moot. Souls stories are amazing wikis and extremely poor to play.

On the other hand, an easy mode does absolutely nothing to detract from the experience for other people; unless you're telling on yourself that you're weak and would break down and use it if it were available, so fuck it, put one in.

Edit: this post was too mean, Bloodborne is cool and good both narratively and mechanically

i'm both sides on this one. a difficult game with no standard easy mode is allowed to exist. also, if they added an easy mode, great. nerds can just play the regular, real, difficult modes and feel good about themselves or whatever they feel when they beat these.

if you're on pc, trainers have stuff like damage % adjustments, infinite flasks, and i think you can adjust your stats or increase your soul gain.

as far as need goes, add a pause in offline modes.

I disagree, i feel like if you know what to look for you can get the story on the first go but if you're new to the series it can be a bit of a mess.

i agree, i think its a bit lazy narratively. Especially since its not like Gwyn is from a time so far away. You fight all of his kids, knights, and him in the game and yet his motives are things we guess at.
