Action Replay and flashcarts yeah, but most cheat tools are irrelevant when systems nowadays are able to be homebrewed and have CFW.

I used Game Genies and Gamesharks all the time with older consoles. It was fun having an invincibility cheat and seeing all the levels of a game without the stress of dying. I had one for my Genesis, GB, GBC, N64, Dreamcast, and PS2.

There were some codes for Mario Bros 3 that were amazing. There was one that unlocked debug, basically you pressed like down + B and the game would pause while you scrolled through the power ups. My brother and I used to put in random codes and the graphics and stuff would just go bonkers. It was fun.

There's a Youtube channel that shows crazy codes from NES games. I'll have to look it up again.

Physical Copy? No.

But i did see one, once.

So unless emulators count, the answer is a no.

Thats a good chunk more in the realm of "Didnt have the abillity", and not so much "Didnt want to"

Like, ive only beaten GTA San Andreas once without cheat codes, and its the only game pre-IV that ive done so with.

Yeah back in 6th gen I really liked messing around with SSBM action replay.
Usually Giga Bowser on the home run contest track.
Debug stage was neat too.
There were these awesome super characters too, Mario firing fireballs so fast it was like a straight line, G&W rapid fire frying pan. Ganon's Warlock Punch with almost no windup. They were fun.

Moon jump on Gamecube Zelda games was really fun too. On Windwaker you could give yourself infinite magic (Never ending deku leaf flight), moon jump and hold R for turbo speed forward. You could basically just jump in the air and start zooming around the world map, no sailing involved.

A bunch of Game Genies the one for the Gameboy was cool. I also usesd a Pro Action Replay Plus for the Saturn, but that was more to just play imports than cheat. Honestly after the 8/16 bit era I just didn't use them and they weren't as prevalent.

I never owned one of the devices but I grew up in a household that went from NES to PS1, so all my SNES/Genesis/Gameboy/GBA experiences were emulated in my early teens, and game genie was built into them so...yeah I definitely used them at times

I used to love hacking up my pokemon games into nonsense with gameshark codes

Yes.

For multiple reasons. As a child, I cheated my way through NES games like Friday the 13th and Lifeforce. As an adult, I beat both games legitimately. I also used a code for Mega Man 2 in which only bosses can hurt Mega Man. Not only was it unnecessary, as the game really isn't that difficult, but it also blocked me from completing the game as the Boobeam Trap does not register as a boss.

I also got a Gameshark for Nintendo 64. This wasn't so much about beating difficult games as it was unlocking inaccessible content. There's an Arwing that you can fight in Ocarina of Time. Big Show's likeness is locked away in the code of WWF No Mercy. And you can hack an unfinished Blargg into Super Mario 64. It lacks eyes, but is otherwise completely functional.

This. It's how I got the Ice Key and the eggs in Banjo Kazooie.

I think I still have the NES one with a beat up box, the original cheat book and a few update books that were much smaller. What happened is that I saw it at Gamestop one day in the early 2000s (it had to have been) and it was like 20 bucks or something. What really sold me on it were the update books as I never saw those before. I only say think b/c I moved but I don't know why I would get rid of it, I don't recall seeing it recently here when I went through a few boxes in my closet though.
