Usually no but there is this really weird area in my area that is barely a curve to the right but there is a No Turn On Red sign. I havent seen someone driving from the other side of the street so Im not even sure why its necessary. I hate having to stop there and Ive had people honk behind me for stopping at red. I get if though because it makes absolutely so sense for a No Turn On Red sign to be there

Nah, not when there's a sign against it that I notice. Especially with the rise of red light cameras.

If I know the area and why (I.e its 5 streets converging and people forget to check that street for on coming traffic) and I know there is no camera light, then yeah.

if Im not really familiar, then no.

I live in NYC so I can't turn right on red 99% of the time

We only had one here briefly, I and basically everybody else ignored it because it was really not needed and they soon changed the signage to better address the issue: those people turning right just needed to look out for and yield to cars coming from their right that were making legal U-turns on their green.

If I was driving somewhere new and came across one, nah, I'd obey it.

Depends on the light. Most I never go at, but theres one I go through sometimes where theres hardly any traffic coming from the left even though the light lasts a long ass time

A bunch of intersections near my house definitely SHOULD have this sign but dont. The traffic coming from the left is blocked by trees/the angle of the roads.

The only time you can't make a turn on right is when there's a sign telling you not to.

Nope theres a reason there is no turn on red at those lights specifically. I literally saw someone almost get in an accident because they wanted to turn as the car was coming from the street behind the light yesterday.

This. The only intersections I've seen with this sign are generally not safe to turn while cross traffic is coming. Better to just wait

As a default at a new intersection I'll obey the sign. If it's a familiar local thing and I'm sure that cops aren't camped around it to farm traffic ticket cash then I'll proceed as soon as it is safe to do so.

Nah it would be dumb to do it in the DMV area considering the asston of cameras everywhere and at every intersection

I haven't really come across one of those iirc, but I try to be extra safe, so I think I would assume there was a good reason for it, and not turn right.

I can only think of a couple in my local area- theyre all in spots with low visibility.

so I usually just wait.

Literally illegal to do that here in general.

As a professional driver, I have to follow the letter of the law at all times when I'm working, or I face massive legal consequences.

I tend to drive personally the same way, because I know if I don't, my bad habits from driving personally will leak over to my professional driving.

Besides, the laws are generally there for a reason, often written in blood.

There is only one spot I know like this.

It's a side road that leads onto the main road and there is a building and a hedge blocking the view.

Could easily get smashed by a delivery truck if one kept going.

But I'm sure some people go anyway.
