From a technical standpoint this looks really bush league for Pixar. You can see noticeable polygons like it's a PS4 game.

All the fire people look like shit >_>

It seems uninspired. I hope they don't go with the obvious message about how elements need to work together to create new reactions to do some big thing for society.

Positive message, sure, but it would be so cliche.

I hope that's not what it ends up being.

felt like pixar was focusing too much on real people stuff recently

I am very unimpressed by the special effects.

Flame's face looks like a N64 texture. Water has little to no transparency.

The original Killer Instinct had kick ass effects for cinder and glacius. those characters were chosen because the SGI workstations they used to develop KI1 had built-in hardware effects for water and fire.

This is a 1989 movie (same effects used for Glacius), for sake, this looks better than this 2023 pixar movie:

Looks like yet another generational drama with a twist.

Its supposedly based on the directors experience growing up in 1970s New York as a child of immigrants and the melting pot of cultures.

"Get out of your comfort zone!"

Yeah, how many times has Hollywood been saying this? Would be more interesting nowadays if there was a film that encouraged you to stay in your comfort zone.

Right but like...it's a Pixar movie. They gotta step it up. We basically already had this from Disney with Zootopia. The whole "modern city, but its residents are something wacky" thing is starting to feel like a trend.

At least we'll probably get an Incredibles 3 or Monsters Inc sequel after this bombs

Good theory. They might. Maybe there is a black market water person kidnapping gang that stalks water people when they are alone. Then nabs em and gets them ready for consumption

This ends with the water putting out the fire and the fire evaporating the water. The message is stick with your own kind. It becomes mandatory viewing in Florida, Tennessee, and Texas.

Also, this somehow reminds me of Osmosis Jones. Especially water guy.

They love movies about racism.

This doesn't look bad or anything, but at the same time I feel like I've seen this move a dozen times already. Anyway, I'm guessing the twist will be that when the opposite elements combine they'll create a dual element like in JRPGs. Water + Earth = Clay, Water + Fire = Steam, etc.

I was pretty meh when I first heard about this movie.

But now? It's a meeeeeeeeh.

I mean yes to both, but that doesn't necesarily make it a bad thing. Puss in Boots The Last Wish had a lower budget and yet still looks pretty damn impressive when compared to other 3D animated films.

I think the last Pixar movie I watched was Incredibles 2 lol. I'll probably skip this too, doesn't really look interesting. Though I'll give them props that a lot of the visual gags seem pretty creative.

Eh, the premise seems really worn out. The jokes feel like they'd come from literally any other studio.

I'm sure it'll look impressive in theaters and will be enjoyable enough, but just feels... Generic.
