Been coughing for about three hours straight and my throat is fucking raw from it, it got really bad once I laid down to go to sleep

Timeline would make sense because I was just playing D&D on Saturday with a couple people who came to the session directly from an anime convention and I was sitting sandwiched between them during the game

I have a test somewhere in my bathroom and I'm going to find it in the morning but my plan right now is that I'm definitely going to be calling off work tomorrow

Didn't fall asleep until 4 and my alarm went off at 8, first thing I did was cough again so it was the easiest call-off of my career lol

COVID test I took last night came back negative, thankfully

Checked in with my D&D group's Discord server to see how everybody is doing and a couple more are feeling a little sick so it does look like the two people who went to that anime convention spread the Con Crud to the rest of us

it's a bacterial infection of the throat i had it before in the 7th-8th grade. thank god isn't covid.

i had to take a Z-pak for 10 days to clear cant remember the name of the medication. should be going to the hospital because that isn't going to clear by itself.

Started taking antibiotics today, but I've encountered a new problem where I can't lay down to sleep without the coughing getting so much worse. I'm going to have to rig up a chair where I can sleep semi-comfortably while sitting up.

I got it so much as a kid they took my tonsils. Haven't had it since.

A few people at my work had strep a few weeks back. I'm glad I didnt get it considering I spent a good 8 hours basically right next to one of the dudes that had it.

hopefully you have better luck than i have in the past 3 days with the cold. barely get 3-4 hours of sleep per night because of lack of being able to breathe while phlegm rears it's ugly head. maybe tonight i can sleep well.

Managed to fall asleep last night but it took way too long. Throat is still very sore today so I'm trying not to speak out loud at all if I can help it.

I did have to do a second COVID test because that's apparently doing a round in my D&D group as well, but this one also came back negative so I think I'm in the clear there. If I wound up catching both at the same time I don't see any scenario in which that would have ended well for me.
