Nintendo.com used to have forums which was my online community before GameFAQs introduced boards. I remember a Mario RPG CYOA that I had a lot of fun with.

There was also a popular site with user-submitted content called World of Nintendo that I have not been able to find ANYTHING about in years.

We didn't keep the internet long in that iteration because we were charged by the minute at long distance rates lol.

I remember when I was like, maybe 7ish (late 90s), I found one of those "adopt a chocobo" websites. Now again, let me reiterate that I was like 7 at the time. So I got very angry when I realised I wasn't getting a real chocobo and "adopted" one called something like "send me a real version of all my chocobos or I'll send Sephiroth after you". This is probably my earliest amusing-in-hindsight internet memory.

Various game sites. Bonus, Alfie, ezone, Shockwave (even downloaded their Shockmachine player), Sports Illustrated For Kids (which removed games entirely for some reason). I was a fan of Garfield from the Sunday comics, found a word search game on the official site, and that kicked off a lifelong love of word searches.

I was glad to hear that the guys behind ezone have been keeping busy. Still making games, got something called Car Quest on Switch, and they're making another Lenny Loosejocks game. They released the first two on Steam and remastered the old cartoons. Definitely give those a watch if you like pixel art and slapstick.

Addicting Games. Used to go on there all the time to play random flash games.
