Probably. I remember seeing a video from N.K. of highschoolers doing some RotC. And the reporter asks a teen girl how she felt about the training and she happily chimed in that she's excited for the opportunity to kill some Americans.

If it's like any other dictatorship, soldiers probably get fed which usually keeps them loyal to the dictator and draws in a crowd of volunteers who know that they're literally starving to death at home and this may be their only opportunity to make it another year.

North Korea needs to accept that they only exist to be a meat-wall between China and South Korea.

I think they are far better fed so there is incentive to join. Not like they have a choice anyway. And by better fed it's still not good compared to most any other country.

IIRC, Lisa Ling did a thing on the DMZ a while back for CNN. One scene was filmed where PRK & ROK guards are just a few yards apart at the DMZ. Maybe 50 yards apart, face to face. Trump walked across it years later.

While the ROK does send its biggest guys for the daily face off, it's clear that the PRK guys are fed a different diet than regular PRK soldiers. They're still not as big as the ROK guys on average though. Being well fed over time does make a difference.

Another thing that came out was that initially it was one soldier per side but the PRK added a second soldier and a supervisor because their guys kept running over to the ROK side to defect...

I'm honestly surprised they don't just list their entire populace.

Logistics and air/naval superiority is key in war.

What can an enemy do when you can rain hell from the air while getting pincered by infantry?

NK's only hope is to zerg rush through the tunnels they've built into Seoul and decapitate the SK government then immediately sue for peace because a war of attrition would end within a month

Presuming they don't just open with a nuclear weapon

Yeah South Korea sends over some huge guys and North Korea really don't have people near the size due to the food. When I was in Korea there were guys more muscular than Arnold Schwarzenegger at his peak and younger Koreans were generally the same height as Americans. The older generation wasn't that tall for sure.
