Jogging? I was told that jogging 6 mph for 20 minute straight is for beginners?

I started out a very slow jog. But my max was 5 mph but I am at 4 for slacking off. And that's 4.5 mph for 4 minutes ( i think I can do longer)
Am I that out of shape? The thing is my legs will start burning especially my Shin. If I go 5 I would feel like I am having a heart attack.

Tell the people telling you that to go fuck themselves and do what you gotta do.

10 minute mile is beginner, yeah. If you keep with it you can easily hit that pace for 20 minutes within six months.

Yes, you're that out of shape. 4 mph is a 15 minute mile pace. If that what gets your heart pumping, so be it! Maybe tomorrow or two days from now you can go for 4.1 mph for a little longer than last time. Just stick with it on the regular and you'll get dem gains -- who gives a fuck if you're at "beginner" or "advanced" or "sedentary" or whatever fitness level?

I run 2 miles in 16 minutes these days. That's 7.5 mph. I don't claim to be fast anymore, though.

Find a short curb, like where the sidewalk meets a crosswalk, a couple of inches of elevation difference.

Put your toes on the curb, then lift yourself up and down at the ankles for a bit, like going on tiptoes.

Try to do it slowly, smoothly, and with as full a range of motion as you can.

Ideally you want from your heels to a little before your toes to be hanging off the edge but not touching the ground.

Just keep running.
Either go a little further or a little faster each day.
Don't worry about overall times and speed until you have been running consistently for month or so.
