Just like obesity, CE mistakenly characterizes SUVs as a uniquely American phenomenon, when in fact sales have been increasing in the EU and UK for years now.

I've got a Honda Accord as my daily driver and a Honda Pilot as my car for bad weather (AWD is great in the snow), road trips, and basically any situation where I would need to carry more than two people around.

I prefer driving sedans and if I was single would probably just have nice AWD car like an Acura TLX, or a Kia Stinger. Love feeling closer to the road.

I have a Stinger GT, with AWD. But I have 3 kids and they do sports and stuff, so I have a 3 row SUV as well. My Durango is great, I think they are underrated in their category.

I do like the Stinger, but I kinda wish my Wife would agree on selling it so I can get a new Integra with a manual. I doubt that will happen though.

I lived out of my Nissan Murano for a summer driving across the country and back it was perfect for everything I threw at it including off road trails.

That was 7 years ago and Im still driving it.

My first vehicle was a 2001 Ford Escape and when I got my first speeding ticket the vehicle was considered a station wagon.

TLDW, but I get it. I frequently drive a motorcycle which is like the antithesis of the SUV. However, I also own a big SUV because I occasionally tow things and need to haul a lot of kids/stuff/dogs etc...

SUVs are a necessary tool for some, but I agree that many people just buy them for style and there's some weird notion that minivans aren't cool enough.

SUVs are stupid.

cars are for going from point A to point B.

if you want a modification to that purpose, you will add such priority to the basic concept car , at the expense of other attributes.

if you want sportiness you can have it, but it will come at the expense of practicality and affordability (think corvette vs Corolla)

if you want luxury you can have it, but it will come at the expense of sportiness and affordability (think Lincoln town car vs Corolla)

you get the idea.

SUVs have two purposes, off road or interior space (for people and cargo). You lose affordability, sportiness, luxury (the ride of an old school Cadillac or S class, for example) or cars, but you get that space.

but now you get sports SUVS, which are not truly sports, since theyre SUVs. You get luxury SUVs but theyre not as luxurious as a comparably priced car would be. And you dont even get the space a SUV is supposed to give, stuff like the bmw x1 or Audi q3 have less space than a car, so why do they even exist ?

Assholes love to drive them and most people who drive them are assholes. Not just SUVs but just giant 4WD gas guzzlers 2-3 times the size of a standard sedans. Its not just an American problem, its a problem in Australia as well.

But basically the gist of it is that Karens dont need huge ass trucks to drive their kid 2 minutes to ballet practice, a sedan is perfectly fine. But no, need giant asshole-mobiles
