Pretty sure Bamco has a contract where they gotta do 1 DBZ game a year otherwise they lose the contract, hence why we get a ton of them.

For me its more like its one of the chosen few anime games that is allowed to have a damn dub. Anime is more popular than ever, and series like one piece is a great deal more popular these days compared to how niche it was in the past. Despite this, bandai-namco still goes bare minimum and refuses to have a dub for one piece games. Only dragon ball, naruto, and demon slayer is deemed worthy of it. My hero academia's latest arena fighter didn't even get one until it was added is friggin' DLC, =/ At least one punch man's game managed to have dual audio.

I have no problem with one piece japanese voices of course, but I believe that the funimation voice actors do great work on the series so it sucks I can't play one piece pirate warriors 3 without having to read subtitles for every little thing. (I really, really hate playing warriors/mosou games with subtitles because of how much that usually goes on if you are playing on a difficulty above normal).

I loved budokai 1-3 but tenkaichi were ass. This will be a hard pass for me.

Tenkaichi was the game that knocked me out of DBZ games until Fighterz came out so no thanks. Good on people that are excited. Also doesn't 3 still get DLC on a regular basis?

Yeah, I got stoked at first, and then was like "wait a second", and remembered this was after Budokai 3.

The game gets flak for re skins, but damned if 3/2 weren't stacked with shit to do. I'm worried about DLC though...we might get some DOA6 type shit.

i played the **** out of Budokai 1 and 3.

I loved the single player and unlocks and all the shit. I hope it's similar to the PS2 games.

The Tenkaichi games were kinda garbage compared to the original Budokai games.

I remember absolutely loving BT3 between the ages of 18-20. Im now 33. Time flies.

Can someone explain to me the difference between Budokai, Xenoverse, and Kakarot? From a very-short glance at each, they all look like they are 3d arena fighters. Kakarot might seem a little more action rpg based, but what about the former 2? What differences do they have?

Budokai is a 2.5D/3D one perspective fighter.
Budokai Tenkaichi is a full 3D over the shoulder fighter (arena fighter type).
Xenoverse is a wannabe BT with bigger area and more movement.
Kakarot is a full open world RPG game, but the fighting is very Xenoverse/BT.
DBZF is a legit 2D fighting game, albeit anime af.

xenoverse were just the BT games except with a custom character for RPG stuff.

Why do we need another BT game when DBFZ is such a better game

Because BT2 and 3 were fun, and Raging Blast + xenoverse was not

Also they kinda sorta made Budokai 4 in Burst Limit, but they reverted back to going as far as Cell Saga/ Broly. Plus it has auto charging Ki and a lot of cinematic flairs mid combat

Why do we need a new BT game. Isnt kakarot basically the same but better?

After Arc System Works perfected FighterZ, I'll go as far to say every Dragonball Z fighting game has been shit to okay at best in comparison tbqh.

Kakarot has the best way to experience the main story sagas over Budokai 1/ Tenkaichi 2, but combat is Xenoverse tier

tenkaichi 3 was decent and one of those ps2 games that sell for insane $

IDK what the point is with digging up BT when FighterZ and Xenoverse have filled the roles quite capably.
I will say that the Dragonball games in the past gen have been better examples of what GaaS could be.

4. Hope we get some what if characters like ss3 Vegeta and ss3 broly

5. Hatchyak is playable

6. No dragon ball characters

I really ejoyed 2 and 3 on Wii. I can't wait for 4 on Switch 2!

I agree. I don't like create or character for dragonball games.. Kinda ruined xenoverse 2 for me.

IIRC any character above SSJ level could easily slap an Oozaru around.

I remember hearing Nappa and Syn Shenron (not Omega) were broken in BT3 cuz they had a move that was nigh instant, could hit anywhere/track, was hard to dodge, and could be spammed

One of the biggest draws for me with this series back in the day was the huge roster so it will be interesting to see how they piecemeal it as DLC.

EDIT: And yeah I agree it's confusing and not all that smart. Budokai was... I guess best described as a 2D fighter, but you can strafe around the battlefield so the maps are 3D, whereas BT is full on 3D action.

At least in Japan it wasn't confusing. Budokai games were just called Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Z 2, etc, while the Budokai Tenkaichi games were called Sparking!

I don't get these comments, the tenkaichi games were way better than the budokai ones.

I understand why people like Budokai over Tenkaichi. It's a bit more technical, stylish and grounded.

But BT2/BT3 were justttt technical enough, but allowing you to freeform, and having a ton of options in every other aspect. It's a quantity > quality thing, but that quality is still pretty good

I love both series, but BT2&3 edged it out for me.

Of course a lot of this is off the table since BT3 is 15 years old, in a era without constant DLC and patches. At best we are getting 60(100 including forms) characters at launch
