Columbus woman inspects a home, gets mauled by a pit bull that came from the adjoining property. Co-workers come in to the rescue and she gets airlifted to a hospital for a leg amputation.

A Columbus non-profit executive is recovering in an Atlanta hospital from a vicious dog attack earlier this week that resulted in the amputation of a portion of her leg.
NeighborWorks Columbus Chief Operating Officer Kim Golden was inspecting a home in the Waverly Terrace neighborhood Wednesday afternoon when she was attacked by a pitbull-type dog.

Golden was walking back toward the porch of the home she was inspecting when the dog attacked her. The dog came from an adjoining property.
The dog bit Goldens left leg and was able to knock her to the ground.

A co-worker and several others responded to Goldens cries for help. They eventually got the dog off of her. A Muscogee County Sheriffs Deputy was flagged down and waited with Golden until paramedics arrived.

She was treated on the scene, then at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown campus before being airlifted to Atlantas Grady Hospital where the decision to amputate was made.

Now, I mean, I went immediately from able-bodied to I now have a disability. And I think another thing thats really keeping me calm is my mother is disabled and so Ive been exposed to the disability community and I dont feel like its a tragedy to become disabled. I mean its not a tragedy. Its just, its going to be a life change and my life is not over. Its just going to look different.

My assumption would be to gouge out the eyes. The things are probably tanks in all other areas, but I cannot imagine theyd prioritize attacking over that horrible pain.

That's my inclination too. I've seen someone say to try and lift them by their tail and they'll open their mouth.

Domestic dogs literally only exist because of humans. Nothing wrong with humans choosing to stop creating dangerous or sickly breeds. I also think we should let bulldogs, dachshunds, chihuahuas, etc die off. It's our fault and we are the only ones who can fix our mistakes.

We don't let people own bears or tigers. No one has a right to own a pit bull.

Being attacked? Eye gouging probably but it's probably no guarantee it won't keep biting

Witnessing an attack without any sort of weapon then the best way is to get behind the dog and jam your thumb in its ass which I've actually seen someone do when a pit bull attacked another dog and it stopped biting instantly
