Actually that answers everything for me. Some people are treating this as if its a chess game while my belief is that religion and politics are inherently separate.
Ok, that's a great belief and all, but can you take a serious look at the situation in this country and say that Republicans are moving forward as if religion and politics are separate? Is it really atheists who are primarily muddying the waters?

You can use that logic to condemn any belief. The (or my) actual reason that religion and politics are inherently separate is that religion requires faith, but if you make faith part politics you're going to have some problems. But at the same time you can't ban religion in politics any more than you you can ban any other belief. So politicians have, are, and will continue to use religion nefariously.

I take that as a challenge. I guess the whole "separation of church and state" was bullshit if you can't make people separate it.

Reminds me of that bit in Gods Not Dead 2 when they try to argue that Jesus is a femminist

Well for the time taking bold stances like "hey we shouldn't kill women accused of adultery by throwing big rocks at them" was very feminist.

It would be impossible to enforce.

So we should just torch the constitution in favor of regulating speech you specifically disagree with?

Do you think the world has gotten more dangerous since then necessitating more restrictions on free speech or are you a much weaker and pathetic individual than people from prior generations that accepted freedom of speech sometimes means speech you don't like being allowed?

When you talk about getting rid of the constitution in order to place restrictions of freedom of speech are you saying that because you think that the threats of allowing freedom of speech are greater than they used to be or are you saying it because you feel that people these days, including you, are too mentally and emotionally fragile to live in a world where speech they find offensive is legal?

I sure wish I lived in your world where the biggest threat from the religious right was them saying words I don't like

I think they grew up Christian but bad experience(s) led them to be not only atheist but also anti-Christian. And the problem with that is their views are clouded by bias.
So only pro-religion bias is allowed? Anyone that had religion forced upon them at any point in their life isn't allowed to dislike it? Pretty braindead take.

I never assume any outward trumpeting Christian anything is "liberal". Liberal churches will just run charities and soup kitchens and homeless shelters and say "All are welcome". Conservative churches will advertise on billboards and TV and talk about you needing to be "saved".

Also, the former moral majority and Jerry Falwell's ideas and their advocacy groups can get lost.

If the goal really is to "corrupt liberals", Im not really sure this is a good strategy lol.

Conservative propaganda usually works by preying on latent fears and anxieties.

If you're trying to entice people into your religion by appealing to virtues like "help the poor" and "bigotry is bad", it's going to be very hard to get them to suddenly say "wow yeah, I became a Christian because I liked the Good Samaritan and that bit about the camel and needle, but how about we legislate minorities out of existence and suck the cocks of billionaires?"

Meanwhile when it benefits them youll see the same people argue that Jesus was actually a communist.
If you ever read the New Testament, it's incredibly obvious that Jesus was the original communist.

On semi-related tangent- while it's not the literal point of the story, but when I hear Christian conservatives complain how "unfair" financial relief programs and other social safety nets are, I keep thinking of the "workers in the vineyard" parable lol

I won't doubt at all that that happens, but "conservatives" are missing the point of that one when trying to relate it welfare.

The worst part is they're right.

Jeezy Creezy would be way more down with the average liberal compared to your average rightie who actually "worships" him.
