Its just lazy to race change. People will ignore it if the character is good, but its just pointless at the end of the day. It's really just a symptom of lazy and bad writing, most of the time. Thats more of a problem with lazy and bad writers though than the act of race changing itself.

The amount of YouTube videos in my feed with titles like "Velma looks bad!", acknowledging up front they are reviewing something they haven't experienced despite it being out and them making a YouTube video on the subject.

Havent seen the show but it has like a 1.3/10 on IMDb. Thats below pretty much every awful movie and series that is completely unwatchable.

A score that low makes me very skeptical of the criticism Ive heard about the show.

Because it's SJW-tier cringe.

Netflix barely has any quality control, but they got taxes to write off

i watched a little of it and stopped after seein what they did to Shaggy
they could have made a black incarnation of him legit entertaining
instead hes just a doormat and simpy plot tool for the thing we're calling Velma in this show
she dont even like him back, hes just fodder for her

and theres not a lot of noteworthy black men in the series to begin with
the one they got at the forefront is an ongoing bad joke, which is a total waste
shows how the creators feel about brothas

because it has zero correlation with the OG scooby doo cartoon. It's like they decided to take the characters and twist them around to be some woke rick and morty cartoon.

im sure they would've gotten less flak if they just created a whole new cartoon instead of using the scooby doo characters because its not even scooby doo

Because nothing says alpha male like classic shaggy hiding under the bed when he hears a sound.

The overwhelming baseless far right outrage over made up shit like this and the blatant not even masked frothing racism makes it really hard to talk about how shit the show is.

Like they make up a non existent character arch type for shaggy to complain about, as if shaggys entire existence was his hypnotized 'Bad' persona from phantomsaur to bitch about shaggy.... Fucking shaggy.... now not being alpha anymore.

But completely ignore how this is now a high school reboot like mysteries Inc and not college kids, and is constantly showing underage nudity. While the underage nude characters attempt to have dialog about pandering nudity, an absolutely failed cringe attempt at a meta gag.

The failed shit gag to landed or even mediocre gag ratio is just way to fucking high.

The entire franchises premise and major appeal, solving somewhat spooky mysteries is turned into a non sequitur failed meta gag...

And even their obvious troll meta attempts are fails on the meta level, I mean making Shaggy black while having his father literally be the on model shaggy design in that art style is such a weird miss for trolling with race changes. It makes right wingers cry and wet themselves, but that's all it does, and that's a really low bar..... And there is already a baked in since the beginning obvious race change that would do all that, honor one of the most famous voice actors and progressive civil rights activists of the era, AND be a meta reference.

Why didn't they make Shaggy Lebanese? They KNOW, they LITERALLY did a Casey Kasem gag, one of the few decent gags in the show so far. They just can't put basic shit together, they don't understand how to use meta humor effectively, and this lack of ability permeates the entire show so far.

Framing Big Mouth as sexualizing children, when the show is an over-the-top comedy about puberty is hilarious. As is the idea of being outraged about a show putting high school students into sexual situations. Given that I could probably name a dozen shows that do this that you inconcievably don't have an issue with. I think I said it earlier in the topic, the Gossip Girl reboot is literally on the same channel and pretty much exclusively centers around high school students in sexual situations.
