It took 11 years for something like this to happen once. In a way ,that means you're less likely to have something else happen than any other time than 11 years ago.

Just lock all the doors and keep the lights on. If you have to stay up all night then thats that. Do what feels safe.

It was most likely someone that was off their meds and not even there mentally. Or mistook your house for someone elses.

Joking aside that sounds terrifying.

This is why people like being armed with guns, no worries if this happens, you get your weapon, hold it aimed at the front door and call the police. If all goes well the person gets dealt with by the police but if they break in you have a clear means to defend yourself and not be afraid.

The benelli M4 is a real fear killer, and very effective at ending threats.

I can relate to this fear so much. I've always had a fear of a home invasion or something similar since I was a kid. One time, when I was housesitting a two-story house for my parents by myself, someone walked up to the front door and started trying to open it. I heard them walking on the deck to the front door and quickly jiggling the handle around. Thankfully, my parents' dogs started going wild and barking a ton, and that seemingly scared the person off.

I was pretty damn terrified and had a hell of a time settling down. No matter where I went, I just had this feeling that someone was watching me or that they were about to try to break in again. It took hours to calm down, and I had a ton of trouble getting to sleep afterwards.

In all likelihood, it was just some dumb kid who was either trying to luck into a random unlocked house, or just some drunk idiot who wanted to fuck with someone, but it basically dug up my fears for that entire night. It was a really shitty feeling.

I hope you can calm down soon and get some rest. I can't imagine how scary that would be, especially with her still being out there, but I really hope that you're able to at least calm your nerves soon.

Kinda yeah. But my dad bore the brunt of it. One of the guys was caught and served time, but he's probably out now.

Long story behind it all since they had been watching our family for a while. They also had guns and pepper spray.

Some guy did this at my house when I was a kid. Was trying to smash through the back door because he claimed it was his house. The police got him though. Was just some mistaken drunk. My dad had a gun trained on him and was ready to end him the second he made it through. Scary af

One of my roommates in college went to the wrong house after getting drunk. I guess the door was unlocked because he woke up the couch to cops.

He's lucky he wasn't killed

I'd imagine it would be like a bunch of officials showing up the next morning with clipboards taking exact play by play by any tenant witnesses

Keep a bat or something near you when you sleep so if someone gets in you have a weapon to hit them with, and bats HURT. Take one or two good swings and someones down

I'd invest in pepper/bear spray anyway. Better to have to defend your actions in court than dead.

i think thats a little extreme, some lady on drugs did what people on drugs do, i'm sure it's not gonna happen again

My life has been pretty free of violence and threats until now

count your blessings that you have had such a sheltered life. If you have a solid door and your windows aren't easily accessed you can rest easy. Most people trying to break in to a house don't really have tools for the job and get in through stuff like spare keys, windows, etc..

Either she is a tenant, tenant's guest, or she got in from the door into the apartment building from the parking lot that's not locked properly half the time.

I am sorry, but if they did hurt someone for the blood and are still on the loose I would think such a thing would be news worthy, but that is just me. They may not want a panic, but still.

it is fucked up if canada doesn't even allow pepper spray (at least one self protection item). dog is a very good idea (big dog) of your choice with intimidating factor.

I went to this guy's house a few times that had a German shepherd. That thing sounded like it wanted to kill me. I refused to go in his house unless it was put away

It costs me $1,999 USD but it was something I have wanted a long time, I could easily afford it and it is one of the best of its kind. Buy once cry once did not apply to me on this.

Been very happy with my Benelli M4 H20, and it is a great bit of fun at the range. My only gripe is I did not buy it sooner but other things took priority.
