I've printed parts for printers and fidget toys and 1:1 models of video game stuff.

Most of my prints have probably been calibration/tuning or replacement parts. Most fun print recently was a catapult we used for marshmallows on Thanksgiving :]

Welcome to the club, I recommend getting a PEI glass bed, they actually release the print when they cool down instead of just claiming they do.

Flex bed with textured PEI is a good upgrade once the other parts of the printer are working and tuned

That's good too. Though it's a semi-permanent upgrade since you need to apply a magnet to the surface of the bed. You can always put glass on top of it but it's an insulator and you can't do some higher temperature filaments like ASA or PC since it ruins the magnet after a while.

Where do I even start as to checking and seeing what I need to do to get it in working shape?

obviously I will be looking into setup guides and stuff like that, he gave me some filament as well as and card and everything I need, I was under the assumption that it wouldnt even power up so Im already past what I was prepared foor

im a pc technician and have experience with shit so Im not super intimidated but it is a field I know nothing about

Run a benchy and see how it goes. Typically you'll want tighten the belts with those knobs till the belt doesn't sag, and you'll want to level the bed but that has a CR touch on it so it will do it at the start of the print cycle (you may need to adjust the z-offset with a piece of paper.)

That's really cool. I love getting free shit from friends that don't know how to fix stuff. I always offer it back whenever I fix it but I've never had someone actually take the thing back. Gotten a ton of guitar amps and pedals that way lol

Heat the bed to 100 and the nozzle to 260 and see if it has an error.

260 is pretty high for not knowing anything about it, if it has any PTFE on it that's going to offgas at that temperature. If TC has pet birds you'd be a murderer :]

260 is stock on pretty much every printer these days. Sure it isn't good for the coating on the head during long prints, but it's fine for a short test or a small print.

Just finished some videos on tightening belts and leveling the bed and stuff like that, I guess once I do that Ill be able to run her for a test print, yall should expect videos or something

It has a BLTouch addon but for the life of me on a test print it seems like the nozzle is too far up, im not sure if that's what is causing the filament to not stick to the board or what... When I do that auto level function, it goes to the center, taps, and then it goes top right and tries to level, but the bltouch is off to the left of the base, so it doesn't find anything lol

I would envy you but my Mini fits on my table most stuff fits.

So I guess I need to learn how to set an x offset for the bltouch, it is trying to prove too far left of where the actual board is, that requires me plugging up printer to computer which I have not done yet

got the board version and firmware figured out and stuff
