Yes, be careful of assumptions because there are beautiful, agressive young adults who are skilled at manipulating older suitors into doing whatever they want. Often when people talk about the power gap, it seems like they forget or cant wrap their heads around the very real possibility that a younger woman could very much be the predator in a relationship with an older man.

Interestingly enough. The pOwrR dyNamIc crowd have no problems with Taylor swift hanging out with 17 years old Connor kennedy who was still in high school and his mother just died while she was 22. They litterally became a couple on his 18th birthday and she bought a house next to his(she was already one of the most popular star at the time)

That said I feel like half your age plus seven give a reasonable range about what age you should consider.

I see nothing wrong with what he said. It's not easy dating women. I always have this fear of making a move, be it sexual or further pursuing. Because I don't want to be accused of harassment. The wooing and chasing thing is him being old fashioned, but most hetero women do like being pursued.

But when does it become sus?

When it starts out and it's more or less strictly professional and you're assisting them through life?

When it's strictly friendship with no romantic feelings?

When it starts to become romantic for one or both parties?

When it's romantic but not sexual?

When it's sexual but not romantic?

Or is it based on what one of the parties wants? Like if the 30 year targeted the 19 year old because she's 19 and he wants to power play strictly?

People apply all these qualifiers of things being weird without defining the standard of when it becomes weird.

The easier and better thing to do is judge each situation case by case. If something seems up, talk to one or both and see if you can clear up any misconceptions or let them know how they're portraying their relationship.

End of the day, it feels like people who are super anti-age gap want to remove basic tools/skills from peoples social skill set or toolset, and it comes with an (unintended) side effect of infantilizing the younger and demonizing the older without taking anything beyond two numbers and the genders into consideration

I think it's simpler than that. If they haven't been put through the wringer of life, I feel like they'd be open to being taken advantage of by somebody who's long been dried through the wringer. Like I said, there are plenty of exceptions, and I won't immediately jump to conclusions, but more often than not, a good amount of people in their early 20's just haven't reached the type of maturity that gives them the ability to make good choices. If they get married, that's when things get a lot more sus, and you might be looking at the seeds of somebody's life getting ruined before they've had a chance to establish themselves. They could easily regret that for the rest of their lives.

But of course, some people are mature for their age, but there's a limit to that. I think just having a serious job for a year alone is probably a pretty large step to maturity. Even then I think there are experiences a person needs to make good choices, and not everybody's even going to have that type of opportunity.

So it's largely context based, and I won't go after people for it if it's legal. That's definitely something Frosk has to understand.
