https://www.yahoo.com/video/fetterman-wife-calls-swimming-america-234551770.html Speaking on a podcast Thursday, Gisele Barreto Fetterman, the wife of Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman, said, Historically, swimming in America is very racist. One of the points of contention Tuesday night during a debate between her husband and Republican candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz was how many mansions each man has and how they had afforded them. Gisele Fettermans comments were an attempt to contextualize why she and her husband own a mansion that Oz alleged Fetterman had received for a dollar. And while we did not want the mansion, that mansion came with a pool I wanted. And the dream was to make this a public pool and turn it into the peoples pool and ensure that young people across Pennsylvania could learn how to swim and water safety and kind of work to right some of the wrongs, she told Jill Wine-Banks and Victor Shi on the iGen Politics podcast. After the debate, John Fetterman and his campaign have been roundly criticized. Pennsylvanias Senate race has narrowed in recent weeks as Oz emerges as a viable candidate to compete with Fetterman, the early favorite. The election is seen as a bellwether for broader cultural currents in America, given Pennsylvanias status as a perennial battleground state. Following her husbands stroke in May and its lingering impact, some liberal commentators have begun floating the idea of Giseles serving as the de facto candidate in her husbands campaign. However, these comments have been walked back in an attempt to downplay the candidates health problems. --- Hey now. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Gisele was referring to a swimming pool on the grounds of the Pennsylvania lieutenant governors official residence, which Fetterman declined to move into upon his election in 2019, becoming the first Pennsylvania lieutenant governor not to live on the historic estate since 1971. The Fettermans subsequently opened the pool up to public use. Yeah with full context, I'm not seeing anything wrong with what she said. Anybody is free to deny how black people were denied pool access and something like this https://www.npr.org/2014/06/13/321380585/remembering-a-civil-rights-swim-in-it-was-a-milestone But that'll either make you look like a racist shitposter or somebody who had a shitty education --- Roll Tide & Go Irish ... Swimming was HEAVILY gatekept by white people until the Civil Rights movement and the lingering effects of redlining and the like has still kept swimming less available to non-white people to this day.
