Does anyone have any experience with this? About a week and a half ago I woke up with a lock suddenly on my phone. There was a remote login on my phone from North Carolina, where I don't live, and Google said there was a security breach. So I think I was hacked. For the last week I've tried various passwords (literally made a spreadsheet) that I might have used and no go. So I think it's a new password and impossible to get in, but really I have no idea.

The good news: Google backed up almost all my stuff on that phone. I bought a new phone and was able to get like three quarters of my pictures back, my app data, and just most of my stuff in general.

The bad news: by far the most important thing to me is missing - my QuickMemo documents. I write songs and have countless songs in progress, finished songs I haven't memorized, and even notation sheets for some where I haven't memorized the music itself. But most of it is lyrics. I would pay literally any amount of money to get these back. The old phone is an LG and apparently has an internal QuickMemo app that is not backed up on the cloud. So nothing from it transferred over to my new phone.

Potential solutions: I've read you can "root" these files, do a hard reset on the phone, and still obtain them with an app after the hard reset is done and the password lock is removed. There's one called Dr. Fone that's like $30 and seems like it works based on others' experiences. Are these rooting apps my only option? I'm terrified to hard reset and never get my files back, so I haven't jumped the gun yet. Thinking of taking it somewhere and seeing what they say.

It's really wild to me that I can't just call LG or Verizon where my service is through and prove my identity to get into the phone. But nope, tried calling both and they said the hard reset was my only option.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. This has been bumming me out so hard lately and like I said, I'll do whatever it takes to get those files back.

Dang, I take it no one here has experience with this? I'll figure something out, maybe go to a tech repair store and see if they know about rooting.

Only thought I have is it may be possible (although i'm not sure if it will work with a locked phone) to just hook your phone up to your computer and access the files that way. I feel like this won't work with a locked phone but who knows with whatever phone you have

There is software produced that can recover phone files, but unfortunately you might not be surprised that companies have made it very difficult to hack phones these days.

I think the reset idea is plausible, but would look into other options first

Sadly this was one of the first things I tried and nope, can't access files when the phone is locked.

Yeah, I'm literally still trying passwords in case somehow it is one of mine. I have about a 16,000 second wait now every time to try a new password! After like 20 wrong attempts it put a 15 second timer on how long you have to try another password, then I think every 10 wrong attempts from there that time has doubled to get to where I am now.

Really have no other ideas on how to get in. Rooting software is looking like my best bet.

Which model phone is it? Just googling about generic LG phones, they seem fairly crackable.

Don't expect your cellular provider to be able to help here.

I do think phone manufacturers can help sometimes depending on the specifics, but LG is a special case where they announced like a year and a half ago they would stop making smart phones. Even if they could help, I bet their customer care teams have shrunk in size and training. Might be work another call or two there just in case.

Sorry dude, I know that's hard to lose your creative processes like that. Google Docs can help prevent that in the future.
