When is their next general election? Presuming of course there is no vote of no confidence.

She wanted to cosplay as Thatcher, but it looks like she's copying her end phase where nobody liked her at all instead of her prior winning elections mode.

The entire country is on the brink of poverty and her solution was tax cuts for the rich. Absolute joke.

She's legit the stupidest Prime minister in history and a candidate for the stupidest world leader

Note I'm saying stupidest very intentionally. Not neccesarily the most evil or corrupt or harmful.

But by golly gee is she an utter and complete moron. It's such a bad reflection not only on her legacy but also on the Tories that they put her into power and are defending her.

Even Bulk and Skull could have come up with a better budget than Truss and Kwarteng compliled and no that is not hyperbole.

Yes they'd have literally no idea what they were doing but literally no idea what they are doing is still better than enough of an idea of what you're doing to actively make everything worse intentionally.

Bulk and Skull would solve the economical crisis. Mostly by accident but they'd still manage it.

He warned about the disastrous effect Truss's economic plans would have on the economy, so he was right there at least.

Yes

And I don't like Sunak but full credit to him, this enormous tax cuts for the wealthy budget was the biggest difference between their (largely the same) platforms and ultimately why the conservative party picked Truss

Full credit where it is due: He openly directly warned Truss and the conservatives that this very thing would happen.

As I said in my Truss topic, Sunak is at least smart enough to know that you have to at least PRETEND you're not solely doing the bidding of the 1%.

Things would still suck but this specific nosedive budget is directly caused by Truss and Sunak would not have done it.

So how does the UK go from here to a general election? Can it be forced or do they pretty much have to wait till this government's term is finished?

Nope. Up to the Tories to call a general election and given they'd end up with maybe half a dozen seats at the moment, no way unless the country protests and forces them to.

However, the party can kick their leader out and vote in a new one - letting 100k people decide who leads the country for everyone. A great show of democracy.

They can hold one whenever they like

They have to hold one BY Janurary 2025.

A vote of no confidence can FORCE an election... but that's not going to happen since it would be suicide for the party at the moment (same reason they never held one under Boris)

Even if the "Tories will only get 2 seats" shit is exaggerated, the reality is if they had an election right now, Labour would dominate the biggest majority possibly ever.

Most likely they will attempt to ride this storm and then some point next year or 2024 when things are less shit, they'll take credit for making things less shit, find something people are mad at Labour about, then call for a general election

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Leaving the EU is one of the biggest contributors to the economic woes the UK is suffering.

Tories have been aggressively fucking the country over for over 20 years( especially the past 12)

Truss has just been the first one who was too stupid to realize you're supposed to wear a mask while you do it.

Thanks, this is helpful.

2024 is a long way away. Fingers crossed public pressure gets some of these policies reversed then.
