It's kinda strange that I legally do my drugs now.

I recommend it. These honey oil vape carts are the bomb.

No, the prison economy would then fail as it would run out of cheap labour and private companies would lose profits.

Drugs are bad, they make you incoherent and annoying, but the reason we have so many people in jail over them is because Nixon wanted less Democrat voters. It doesn't even cause less people to be on drugs.

Drugs should be illegal because it facilitates slavery is a weird argument.

First and foremost, people need to understand what the "War On Drugs" was really about. So coming out of the 1960s two things happened and those being Hippies protesting the Vietnam War and the passage of the Voting and Civil Rights Acts both of which didn't sit well with a particular faction.

Now that Black people could vote, mostly racist politicians in the deep South were upset because they knew that those people would not vote for them so with the urging of one Richard M. Nixon, they began to leave the Dem Party and join the Rep Party in what was known as the "Southern Strategy" in which they decided going forward the GOP would appeal to racist voters mainly in the South.

Now as the 1970s came around Nixon had the bright idea to launch a so called War On Drugs which was squarely aimed at Hippies and Black people and by criminalizing drugs heavily, you could then remove these people once convicted of a felony drug crime from voting and by doing that you lower the number of people who they called Liberal and you ensured that you'd always have a chance to win elections and as time went on things like gerrymandering and redrawing voting districts and purging voter rolls then came into play.

That's the condensed version of the WOD because it goes much deeper.

The worst ones ARE actually legal and comparable to stuff like heroin and meth that have a worse image while being the same thing. You just need a prescription. Alcohol too. Arguably the most destructive substance there is when abused

I mean, yeah, I don't think anyone should go to jail for using/possession. Weed should absolutely be able to be bought and used with no restrictions or oversight. For harder drug use, at most, you should be sentenced to some kind of rehabilitation program. And if it's all legal, it could be easily regulated and then you take it mostly off the streets. Obviously, drugs should still be age restricted though.

On top of that, if something like coke were legal and regulated, you wouldn't have to worry about people dying from coke laced with fentanyl

But politicians make money off of it being illegal and I'm sure many have under the table deals with cartel and such

I feel like anything that isn't manmade or synthetic should be at the very least decriminalized. Shrooms, weed, peyote...idk why these chill ass drugs are illegal. I legit think the world would be a better place if people could freely use them.

Stuff like heroin and meth should absolutely be illegal however. The amount it takes for either of those drugs to get you potentially addicted or even killed from direct toxicity or from just doing stupid shit is not very high. And when I mean illegal I mean it should be a criminal offense to sell or offer these drugs. Having a small possession or just being caught intoxicated should not immediately send you to jail.

That was really obvious sarcasm.
