heard it was like 6$ on PSN the other week and I missed it. I am gonna buy it again if it ever dips below 10$

I only play jrpgs tho, would I like cyberpunk?

It's a fine game. If you only play JRPGs you probably won't like it. It's much closer to GTA with a more fleshed out skill system than a true RPG.

I heard it was story heavy so thats why but yea GGTA isnt my cup of tea

it's probably more like just cause, yakuza, sleeping dogs than gta

which are a lot more limited in scope and play up the rpg aspect more

I suppose that's a reasonable enough comparison. It's got plenty of story, and some of the best stuff is in sidequests, but you're still playing an action game.

I thought the game was amazing, especially in terms of story and character writing. But if by PSN you mean PS4, I think it still runs like ass on that. Check out that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. Ten episodes so it's short, but if you like the writing and themes and atmosphere of that it's a good indicator of you liking those same qualities in the game, as well.

Yes RD2 is in the same boat as well. RD2 is basically GTA but cowboys

Definitely try it out for 6 bucks.

The world itself and the lore are the best thing about the game.

The story and gameplay is pretty ok to good. Nothing amazing though.

The game was more interesting when it was buggy because then it was at least funny

Gameplay-wise there is a level of similarity between Cyberpunk and RD2. Those, however, mostly stem from a similar kind of feel in the systems that most western RPGs use (sort of like how if you say "JRPG" there are a lot of systems that you can expect to see).

In any case it is far closer to GTA than RD2 though depending on what you like/dislike about either game can determine how much you might like Cyberpunk. For instance, the story is fairly different than either of the other two, but I would compare it more to RD2 in that it's not actually a complete joke. While there are problems with Cyberpunk's story the idea of thinking that GTA's story is anything more than a vehicle to keep the ball rolling is laughable to me. RD2, by comparison, actually has a story worth caring about at all. Inversely, Cyberpunk has a post-modern aesthetic which puts it closer to GTA in terms of its visuals/general feel (ie. both RD2 and GTA have guns, but it's very much a modern versus retro sort of appeal). Thus depending on which exact things you like can move it in either direction of whether or not you'd like it.

That said, for $10 (or less) Cyberpunk is pretty worth it. Even if it doesn't click with you I suspect you would still sink quite a few hours into it before deciding you didn't like it. As much as people like to decry it for being a "lifeless world" there is kind of a lot to do once you leave the tutorial, and the tutorial itself is one of the more engrossing segments in a game.

It's a good game, but if you're getting it on PS4, it still has performance issues. As in it's playable, but you'll get a lot of things like texture pop in, frame dips and only small amounts of npc's walking around.

So, just be aware of that. The game itself though, is solid. The story is interesting and there are a few different endings, depending on some of the choices you make.

Your mileage may vary. It's nothing like a JRPG, and really isn't much of an RPG at all. I was reminded more of something like the two modern Deus Ex games. It has an open world (albeit, very empty) and a skill tree walled off by allocating certain stats to unlock them / use different gear.

Hot take but for me, personally, I find cyberpunk settings to be as off putting as steampunk. Nothing is more cringe to me than in-universe lingo and swears and everyone is dressed up like a wardrobe was put into an air cannon. I played the 5 minute intro, saw a cutscene of about a dozen missions I'd want to experience playing, felt robbed of that and quit.

Edit: Played it again recently with 1.5 and got about 20 hours in and just got bored. Didn't like Keanu's character or the way the story was headed.

yeah its pretty fun, I played it on the series X though I hear its pretty much unplayable on the ps4/xbone

dont get it on last gen

GREAT game otherwise

I had a blast with it over my two playthroughs.

Just saw this. A lot of people make the comparison to GTA because it's open world with cars and guns. But those are the only similarities really.

Your character has Stat points and skills, so you can build into gun focused if you want, but you can also do melee/sword builds or hacking builds (can kill people at a distance, like magic, but no large, flashy effects like actual magic). So there are definitely rpg elements.

sadly its no longer that cheap but maybe for black friday it will be?

I've been watching the price for a while, definitely hasn't come close to $6, lowest I've seen was $24. Maybe in January there will be a deep sale if it isn't for the holiday.

I want a Dredd video game.

It's not GTA, it's more like a mix between Deux Ex and a Bethesda open world game with GTA elements for taste

It was a fun game, just not at all what was promised or revolutionary.

As far as how RPG it was...I don't recall a single one of its RPG systems.

It...had some, though, I think.

It's an expansion called Phantom Liberty. It's a Spy Thriller set in a new part of Night City. It's set to release some time in 2023.

How isn't it an RPG compared to other western RPG's. You chose your character build, how they look, all their dialog, how to proceed through missions, how to proceed or not proceed through social interactions...

Been on sale for 2 weeks currently for $24, so maybe it went from a $6 sale the week before for some reason. I'm in the US though.
