They just kind of walk all around. If I call out to them, they sometimes look, but keep walking. Like they have so em place to be Though, he did go sniffing around my yard for a little. Even went up to my door. I think Ill give him a treat next time I see him

I tried to see, but couldnt tell And while hell sometimes walk right y me, he usually wont let me get to close (but mainly because he usually doesnt stop moving)

Yep.

When I was really young I had a dog that looked like London but they took him away because he bit a bully that came after me.

Strays are not a good look for any neighbourhood.

He could be lost? He could be a runaway? He could be abandoned? He could know exactly where home is and likes to "take himself on walks." Does he look healthy? Maybe ask the neighbors if someone is missing a dog when you've got the time.

I know it doesnt belong to the neighbors on the left and right of me since I know their dogs. If I can tempt him with a treat, he may let me see if he has a collar. If he does, Ill see if they have a number Hes seems healthy, though Im hoping he just hops the fence a lot Many dogs around here have become escape artist

Trust me, I know that feeling. We've had two dogs that are escape artists and have often roamed all over the neighborhood in search of the loveable little boogers. There are plenty of other houdinis too.

My daughter's dog is like that. One time we found him in the neighbor's yard snuggling and kissing their dog. We joked that was his girlfriend. Sometimes he'll escape and go to this one abandoned house and whimper. We think it may be his original home. One time he ran down the street to hunt a lizard of all things.

Think The Incredible Journey but only a couple of blocks away; implication is the dog is a rescue and had a different owner that lived nearby at one point.

She had seen him around for months, starving, matted and scared of everything. She'd set food and water out for him when she could but he wouldn't let her touch him for a long time. He also came well trained so we figure he used to belong to somebody.

We don't know if he was abandoned, if he wandered and got lost right when they were moving out, or if the old owner died? He does seem to act like he has abandonment issues because he gets anxious and frantic if she's away for too long. Though he's gotten better. She's had him for several years now, he's a sweet, gentle little guy. You wanna see?

His fur isn't super curly like a poodle, but he doesn't shed, if you leave it alone it gets long and shaggy. What was your Maltese like, if you don't mind me asking.

Straight hair, (no fur) grew constantly and would have to trim every few months. We liked to keep it short, and she preferred shorter hair.

Would make sweaters out of touques for her to wear in the winter.

At the farm, we had 20 to 30 dogs roaming in packs depending on the generation. We used to pour out piles of dog food at twilight and they'd all come running. We had to fire a shot in the air if they started fighting. I came up with the idea of stomping empty juice boxes instead. The shit worked too.

The original two American shorthair lab mix were emaciated and barely surviving. The Akita and Akita mix generations hogged all the food and scared them away. We tried to gather the two original up, but they were scared and wouldn't come close. I saw them 6 months after they stopped coming to dinner by the river. It was sad.

They never ate any of the goats out in the field though. The other dogs mostly ate up all the wild hogs. This was a fenced in 250acres back in the early 90s. They went beyond the fences though at certain points.

I always wondered how we afforded all those damn giant bags of doggo food. Nowadays even the cheap shit is high.

It can get expensive. But some places its not too bad. I think it was like a 40 or 50 pound bag thats like $20 here. That could feed a lot and last for a while, depending on how much you pour out

I wanna say we used half a bag for 5 piles? I don't remember anymore. I remember the bag was thick paper lined with plastic inside and the kibble was edible. It was brown orange and tasted like chicken liver. About the size of a sphere of dimes.

They wouldn't leave a single kibble left either lol. Not once. We also gave them the scraps from dinner.

We have a ton of cats in my town. Even on base, there are tons apt strays. And around the bus station I use to work at. And even the neighborhood. Cats are all over

Cats require a different nutritional formulation that means setting the line at the factory to a different mode of function, it's also not produced in the quantities that dog food is.

Plus the push to more natural ingredients to avoid a repeat of the melamine scandal from twenty years ago has driven up prices across the board.

Not necessarily The dog could be pretty far from home. Maybe further than the owner thinks. Or maybe they only posted signs jn certain places. Or maybe there are signs and people who saw the dog, but couldnt get close to the dog
