I think what got them to do it was the reveal that Train was paying mods $50k or something which has been revealed by ex-twitch staffer djwheat to be against Amazon as a parent companies policies or something

At least poker, sports bets and fantasy sports have an element of genuine skill and strategy. Slots, roulette, and dice games are legit just pure luck with a dash of betting pattern knowledge.

There's no proof of this. He gave people from Twitch gifts, but there's no confirmation or source that confirms they were mods to allow Train to keep gambling.

Though it seems like what it's actually about is that gambling streamers consistently couldn't follow the rules, so Twitch banned them all.

There's also a little thing called gambling addiction. Even if you're not a minor, it's still not good to have access to real money gambling on the same site as wacky antics in kids' games. Twitch as a site should steer clear of gambling and pornography both.

Gray area. At least with loot boxes you're generally not expecting monetary returns. I do also think loot boxes are a bit scummy, too, when they can be bought for real money.

In game currency for loot boxes, real money for specific items. That's the way it should be.

don't think it can be proven

they do give them the money to gamble with though so in theory they don't lose money

except XQC and Train are hardcore addicted so they still happen to go negative anyways....

I don't know either of them really, but XQC saying that everyone knew he was against it and Hasan saying, "I know you were morally against it, but you still did it" is hilarious.

I hate this rapid normalization of gambling that's going on. I don't think it should be something where the carceral state gets involved, but I also don't like it being shoved down our throats with ads, apps, and channels. It's a feeding frenzy and we're the chum when it comes to gambling.

There was a streamer that was boring money from other streamers for awhile and came out and admitted it was all to support a gambling addiction. Then those streamers started talking about how toxic the gambling streamers are to society and I guess their voices actually got heard.

Barely anything will change. 90% of the gambas use the regular "legal" websites. If anything, it will just mean smaller streamers from obscure countries will start getting banned (if found).
