Probably because people have this assumption that developers can only focus on graphics or gameplay, not both. But there are plenty of fun games that also look damn impressive too.

I suggest people just stop pretending like AAAA Ubisoft-likes are the only games out there. If people think now isn't the best gaming has ever been they have a screw loose.

People bitch and moan about microtransactions but I have never once even been compelled to look at the store page of a game. What the hell are y'all playing?

If anything, the thing that is ruining gaming is people who are so angry about every little thing that they don't like and blow it out of proportion that it makes you embarrassed by association to share the same hobby

My thing is "looks nice but what can you interact with"

Games like fallout, oblivion and red faction guerrilla had open worlds you could destroy and interact with the environment making the world seem like something you could physically change and add depth to the gameplay with.

Otherwise it's like playing in a open world painting. Nice looking environments that don't react at all to the player which is what most games have been derailed into.

I agree totally OP. I'm only a Nintendo fan, so all the other games always look like the same ultra-realistic walking simulators. Where's the color and the imagination?

If its actually photo realistic then it looks dull and boring af.......
