Given how primitive the PSVR was, there's really no reason they can't make the PSVR2 backwards compatible with those games.

I imagine a system that uses a camera to track a headset will require vastly different logic than an inside out tracking system the PSVR2 will use.

Not at all. 3D movement input is 3D movement input. It's the VR equivalent of using a PS4 controller to play a PS3 game.

That's on the hardware side, though. All the game knows is that you're moving around in 3D space. It doesn't need to understand how the headset is calculating the inputs.

I have the original psvr, and one thing that irritates me is that it's not actually compatible with the dual sense controller in most games, since dual sense doesn't have a proper light bar.

Also, I had to file a request for the special adapter to make the PlayStation camera work, since the PS5 camera doesn't work with it.

Well that just seems like a terrible design decision on Sony's part. Again, the PSVR is primitive. We're like 2 generations ahead of that now. They could fit all the necessary data into the PSVR2 for backwards compatibility.

They won't because sabotaging themselves is what Sony is the best in the business at doing.

They probably will just make sequels to the games that were on PSVR even though almost all of these games already have versions with the same or similar tracking and stuff the PSVR2 uses. Probably just more profitable to make a sequel instead of making a patch.

You'd think Sony would incentivize these devs to make the old games compatible with the new VR to bolster the launch titles and push units. But I guess not because bots are gonna buy them all up anyways lol

It's understandable but PSVR2 needs all of the advantages it can get and they really should have figured out a solution. Even if it was resorting to using the old controllers and camera with the new headset. Hopefully it's easy for developers to update the games and Sony allows them to offer it for free.
