I remember this episode. There's a mushroom guy who says "am I really going to fight my own cousin?", but it sounds like he's saying "am I really going to fuck my own cousin?". I think the only other things I remember about that show was that there was occasionally singing, and also all the Koopalings had different names from the video game. I think I've also seen a few YouTube poops, but most of them seem to be from the Super Mario World cartoon.

His racism is somewhat overstated. He was friends with Woody Strode and Sammy Davis Jr. He also briefly shut down the production of The Searchers to have a deathly ill Native American child airlifted to a hospital.

Bigotry is a spectrum. It's not just zero to Hitler.

John Wayne and Sammy Davis Jr. being friends is well-documented too. Davis lamented giving Wayne a hug close to Wayne's passing because of his physical condition at the time. Wayne's son, Patrick, said that he wouldn't have missed that for the world. There is a quote hidden mostly behind paywall articles:

With all due respect, I disagree with Sammy Davis Jr. on Wayne not being a racist. John Wayne famously said that he supported white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility." In the same interview, called Native Americans selfish for wanting to keep the land to themselves. But John Wayne was not bigoted to the degree that he couldn't stand to be around someone who was different from himself.

I personally use the term "John Wayne bigotry" to describe someone who holds bigoted attitudes toward a group collectively, but is still willing to befriend or work with members of that group. When it comes to homosexuality, he was friends with Rock Hudson and knew Hudson was gay. (Rock did try to keep the boyfriend away from Wayne though.) He was a bigot and I don't apologize for the attitudes he held. But I also think the record should be straight of what he was and was not guilty of.

I see your point. (And thanks for the info) However, he is known for his take on certain matters. Yes, he was willing to work with certain races, but he still held on to his beliefs about them. (I can imagine what he called them when they wasn't in his presence.)

Just because he did x good things doesn't cancel out his lifelong beliefs like "slavery was a good thing."

Andrew Jackson once adopted and raised an orphaned native American child in secret because of public backlash, and pushed for him to get some pretty good jobs (as much as he could do while it being politically acceptable for the time) but no one would ever seriously claim that Andrew Jackson cared even a lick for the welfare of the first nations.

Not wrong. All we can hope to do I lessen it. People will always find reasons to hate and race is low hanging fruit.

Maybe truly full on racism can end one day but still people will say hateful things out of anger here and there.

Iirc in the show they are from the real world bit go into the mushroom kingdom through a pipe . Can't recall if this is from that show but they had live action Mario and Luigi at the start of every episode.
