I am not remotely qualified to speculate on what happened wrt the pipelines but for a motive for Russia I feel it's pretty simple.

Raise FUD over energy and hope that along with winter you can drive a wedge in Europe's unity on energy. Didn't energy prices jump with this news even if logically you can go "well why would it matter?" Also to use the damage as an excuse to move into that area under the pretense of maintenance. Wasn't there a prior incident where something "went wrong" with a pipeline and sanctions loomed large over it and Russia basically tried to extract concessions from Europe in order to "fix" it?

Not to say this means Russia definitely did it because I still dunno if the risks outweigh the rewards at all there but Russia hasn't shown any strategic competence lately. Unless this is some intra-faction stuff in Russia. The US though? That would be absolutely insane and is pretty unbelievable on pretty much every level.

Biden's quote on the pipelines from February is devoid of the context that like two weeks later when Russia actually invaded Ukraine the pipeline was stopped so he "got" what he wanted. And if I have the right Polish politican there I think he goes on in the tweet chain to suggest it was Russia who did it.

That last tweet is worded weird, but the context of the prior tweet where he says Nobody wanted this pipeline except Russia, and its purpose was to blackmail Eastern Europe (along with retweeting the Biden clip right before), hes strongly saying he doesnt think its Russia.

Also a new wrinkle is that the man is married to fuckin Ann Applebaum, an anti-Russia hawk, which is fucking incredible.

Idk, I dont think hes more reliable than anyone in particular. Like I said, when his tweets happened I saw many lib journalists going basically like and so I trusted them. Im not convinced any of the 3 options make all that much sense, at this point

What makes it different is that it's a mistake a normal person could make under the circumstances and not related to a political position at all. Trump moments tend to fit into at least one of those.

But even more than that: What makes your sharing of it different than many other people sharing similar things here is you want to share a "cringe moment for totally no reason wink wink" and you can't even make a joke out of it. Hell, you could have stolen one of the many jokes people have made about it but you couldn't even be bothered to do that.
