LUE was the original like everything cringey about modern internet. Even then, it spent like barely 10% of its life being the original LUE. I'm pretty sure Kiwifarms has done way more damage. Sadly it's gotten a lot of attention recently due to a bunch of popular youtube videos mentioning them anytime some notorious internet popular people come up.

A sketchy "anonymous" friend said he was murdered and made someone else pass on the message. Every other source I can find including Near points to suicide.

Kiwifarms is responsible for at least 3 suicides.

iirc the guy had a small (like 20 pages or so, where high traffic threads have hundreds) and mostly inactive thread, that was relatively tame for KF standards. i only skimmed it after the supposed suicide, but the harshest thing i remember was them razzing him for being a diaperfur (a furry whose fursona wears diapers). he had an account and participated in his own thread, and had relatively cordial conversations with the posters there. didnt seem to indicate that it was causing him any great amount of distress.

he hadnt been doxxed at this point, and the thread rarely received any activity. then, months later, he emails null out of the blue saying hes going to kill himself over the thread, and offers null something like $60k to take it down. null says no, and the next day, someone who says he knows near IRL tweets that he committed suicide over kiwi farms.

KF users doubt this claim and pressure the guy into giving more info. he doesnt, but insists that in 6 months or something, since near was an american living in japan, his death would be reported on a publicly available japanese govt record of foreigner deaths in japan.

near gets doxxed sometime around here, and KF users wait to see if his name pops up in the record. it never does, and no american suicides were reported in japan from the date of his supposed suicide to the time of publication.

its unclear afaik what actually happened and whether hes alive or dead, and the only source for any info on it was that marcan guy on twitter who iirc worked on emulators with him or something.

the combination of him having a relatively tame and fairly inactive thread, an attempt to get null to agree to extortion, and the supposed record of death never having his name listed on it is why KF claims that its a hoax

No way. It was barely a blip on anything. It was mostly shitposting. The bad apples were banned and went to 4chan or other sites.

This. Yeah LUE did some not ok things, but we got shut down before we could get that bad. If things had kept going and there was no CjayC to moderate us it might have gotten to that point.

So Im seeing a long line of tweets from keffals actively trying to dox and misgender people on Kiwifarms.

tbh i admittedly dont know much about how swatting works, but i would assume that the reason you rarely hear about swatters being arrested is more to do with the difficulty of identifying the culprit rather than apathy from law enforcement

There's also pushback from within the community against her. Neither of these applies to Kiwi Farms, which doxxes people and gleefully engages in racism, misogyny, ableism, and transphobia.

It's not that weird when you take into the fact that the only people defending it are the usual suspects.

I'm less defending Keffals and more going against Kiwi Farms. I find it disgusting how many people are defending it. I know you are all the vast minority but damn you guys are so vocal. I've even had a guy tell me that a man who Kiwi Farms harassed until he commited suicide faked his death. The only reason he would say something so ridiculous is to defend Kiwi Farms. What a cult.

The only downside to Kiwifarms going down is if it is permanent, it will be a bit like what happened to Twitter when Tumblr banned porn, just on the other extreme.

I feel bad for the unfortunate site that will have to house Kiwifarm refugees.
