Nah, total population size isn't what matters here. Sample size affects the precision of the estimate. And so you choose your sample size based on how much precision you think you need to make the inference.

You are trying to make the claim that the sample is probably biased by being from a single state. That's a different claim. One which could be true, but i have no a priori reason to believe it is.

There have been fundamental truths discovered about how human cognition works in studies of under 10 people. Studies that have found fundamental truths about how the brain works with two monkeys. How big the sample size in comparison to the population doesn't matter.

Your studies are irrevelant to the current subject. The divorce rate of people with even the same age is approximately 50% even among people the same age and 40% for Canada. The divorce rate varies a lot among all countries. You are comparing cognitive studies. Something that can be objectively observed as a species to relationships that changes a lot based on social norms and conditioning.

He is absolutely right. She's in her 20s and people are still treating her like a child. Let her be an adult and leave them alone. Their happiness is what matters not their age.

Statistics don't take into account the fact that people are people. If it fails or succeeds or is just a casual thing is up to them, not because statistics.

23-26 is an age where you can reasonably expect someone to make their own decisions. The age disparity is a little off but she's 26.

Now I have seen some people try to claim 19-20 year olds are basically full grown responsible adults when it comes to relationships and that's just preposterous to me.

There are people twice that age that can't handle responsible relationships. Age does not automatically bring maturity and wisdom.

There's plenty of people like that who show signs of a some kind of arrested development. There's probably not a definitive line you can point to when the average person matures, but to me it isn't instantaneously after becoming a legal adult. I've seen some people on the internet imply age 20 is old enough for a woman to understand "what they're getting into" if they have sex with an older man, and it's not an older mans fault for basically leading them on.
