I was a cop for couple of years. Firstly, they dont defend your right to say stuff like that. Secondly, I have no issue with his statement. Thirdly, I never had a gun as police officer and I wouldnt have wanted one.

Ive never seen a compelling argument for civilians to own firearms outside of agricultural pest control.

Enough.

If theres a shooting and you dont have a gun, you run away and call people who have guns to fix the problem.

Ive heard the quality for their ARs is above what youre paying for, but obviously the key for those is that theyre easily upgradable down the line.

Ive heard pretty good things about their AK variants, but I dont own one myself. Nor do I own a Dagger, but the only real knock Ive seen there is that the trigger is trash.

A president who can and did employ secret police at protests to whisk people away without due process isn't concerning to you? A president with clear ties and support of nationalist/extremist/hate groups isn't concerning? Police doing basically whatever they want free of consequence isn't a problem?

Those things do concern me. However, an armed populace hasnt done anything to stop them coming to pass and I dont believe it ever will.

Among other things, the purpose was to be able to organize and defend yourself against a corrupt/tyrannical government. Like the one they just left lol.
Now I'm under no allusions that a "well armed and regulated militia" wouldn't get rolled over by the actual military, but if the alternative is to sit complacently and be rendered completely harmless, that's a no brainer to me. Rather go out fighting than be led to slaughter.

Again, you're dead, and the enemy (the US government) has plenty more men and weapons to replace those soldiers you killed. Your side would have very limited personnel and ammo, even less now that you're dead and they have your weapons. Congrats, you threw your life away for nothing in the end.

Why not? Like I said earlier, if someone has evil and violence in their heart it doesn't make that much difference at all if they own 1 gun or 100.

It's actually not an opinion. Statistics show a vast sweeping majority of mass shootings only involve one firearm. A majority of mass shooters only owned 1-3 guns. The guy that shot up the grocery store and livestreamed it brought other weapons with him but left them in the car ffs.

Again, by and far, the number of guns one owns is in no way indicative of someone's potential to be a mass shooter and seldom is even a factor in mass shootings.

Hunting for food is fine as youre actually using it for something in this case the food chain but hunting purely for sport is fucked up.

I own one but at some point I'm probably going to take it to a buyback event.

These topics remind me how hard it is to have any actual debate in good faith here.
