Having to deny ass clowns a drink because they are too inebriated sounds like hell.

And then they try to start fights.

Probably depends a lot on your coworkers and what sort of customers you get. Its a customer facing job, so it probably sucks a lot of the time. On the other hand, if its the type of place that attracts customers who tip a lot, that's probably good compared to other low paying customer service jobs.

Its stressful and fast paced and you always work nights/weekends. But the tip money is good. Got an 800 dollar tip from a car dealership owner and all his employees tipped me like 500 bucks total in one night

You can make a lot of money but it probably depends on where you live. If you live in a city working FoH is super lucrative for a lower status job.

It can be.
But it totally depends on where you are.
I would steer clear of late-night bars.
Go for, what I call, adult places.
Some place that closes no later than 12:00.

I loved it. I made bank, it did obliterate my work/life balance more than any other job I've had though. Depending on where you work you'll have pretty much no time whatsoever for any breaks on a busy night. So you get home and are just fucking dead until you have to get up and go do it all over again.

Also, it's objectively the best customer service job you can get lol. In the several years I Bartended I can count on one hand how many patrons started shit with me, and they were quickly handled anyway.

Seems like it depends a lot on locale. Heavy club scenes where you can expect a lot of young people on drugs seem awful, but small bars, or pubs in slow areas populated mostly by homeowning young families, seem really nice. I wouldn't mind managing a little microbrew bar.

Depends.
I bartend at a very high end tequila/mezcal bar. It's 80% cocktails. You have to know your shit and memorize hundreds of classic cocktail specs.
I'm highly introverted and don't like talking to people so this is perfect for me since I can talk about cocktails and agave for hours and keep people entertained.
I absolutely could not work at a dive bar/pub,beer bar. That sounds dull and miserable to me.
Clubs are usually where the dickheads are but it's fast paced and you're constantly busy and there's normally security to kick fuckwits out.
I work in Australia so the wages are quite high but there's rarely any tips. Usually I'll make about $40 a week on tips. Which i would consider high

I prefer serving over bartending myself. don't like being stuck behind the counter where I don't have an excuse to walk away from any customer at any time.
