I don't agree with a lot of what Yang says, but this is a pretty clear insight into what a Trump cultists thinks. They are already reading into this as an illicit attack against their messiah. Not saying it shouldn't happen, but they do need to clearly communicate with the public.

Trump was straight up wrong yet even then the weather community got a shit load of pushback and demands to correct themselves to go "Well maybe he's right"

This is like appeasing the class clown because if you try to punish him he'll just start ramping up his behavior, it's insane, if anything actual pushback from Democrats and actual laws being applied and carried out on Trump would make people have hope again and turn out to vote to keep that hope going as Trump and Republicans swear revenge and threaten retaliation against all who opposed them

And I agree with you. They won't believe it, but I've always felt like there would be violence, whether its now or at election time. Its important to have everything documented and communicated even if they won't listen.

This is such a stupid take. The FBI doesn't just raid an ex president for no reason.

Of course they don't they need tons of overwhelming evidence but you see no amount of evidence could convince them Trump is bad

He did have a point in the first half - a big part of why he was initially popular was that he pointed to the broken system and said he could fix it. But that was in 2016, not 2022. Nobody really believes that now. That's why people talk about how MAGA is a cult, not a fanbase.

Any reasonable person would hear "Trump's house is being raided by the FBI" and go "What took so long?"

Like this is going to be my take on that thread of Yangs and not an attempt to say he meant X. I read it as going after Trump for something minor is a mistake, youll win a few points in the short term, but lose in a few years. So if you are going after Trump, it needs to turn out to be something really big so that the rewards outweigh the costs.

Yang's reasoning isn't even consistent.

• Investigating a suspected crime = bad, because Trump's base will think it's politically motivated, even when it isn't.
• Dropping the investigation (or at least, not doing the raid) because it might hurt the democrats in the election = good, even though that would actually be a politically motivated decision.

Ironically that exact situation is why we find ourselves in this scenario to begin with.

My personal issue is, as one of those talking heads who some of these alt right people might listen to, shouldn't his goal be to try to use his influence to make them see how they're wrong and shouldn't succumb to that line of thinking.
