The problem is if only one person stands, then it goes really badly for them. So no one wants to be first. And they dont agree to make a commitment to stand if say 60% of the other people also make that commitment because thats not how people normally do things.

Australian airline Qantas has asked its senior executives to help out as airport baggage handlers as it struggles to manage a staff shortage.
The airline has called on at least 100 senior staff to join its outsourced ground handling teams at Sydney and Melbourne airports for three months.
"The high levels of winter flu and a Covid spike across the community, coupled with the ongoing tight labor market, make resourcing a challenge across our industry," Colin Hughes, Qantas' chief operating officer, said in a note sent to staffandshared with CNN Business on Monday.
Staff who accept the temporary arrangement will be expected to sort and scan bags, load them into aircraft and drive them around the airport, among other responsibilities. They will not be expected to carry out their ground handler role on top of their full-time positions, Hughes said in the note.
Executives opting into the role must also be "physically capable of moving and lifting bags of up to 32 kg (71 pounds) in weight," Hughes said.
"We've been clear that our operational performance has not been meeting our customers' expectations or the standards that we expect of ourselves and that we've been pulling out all stops to improve our performance," a Qantas spokesperson told CNN Business.
Airlines have struggled to cope with a strong bounce back in travelers after two years of pandemic restrictions and staff cuts.
Qantas (QABSY) said in June 2020 that it would slash 20% of its total workforce, or about 6,000 jobs mostly affecting its corporate, ground and flight staff as it tried to stay afloat during the height of the pandemic.

Something at my work happened where such incredibly bad direction from the top was making our lives so miserable we really should have gone on strike. Instead one by one the experienced workers left and were just replaced by more desperate people at lower pay. I'm on my way out soon too but I don't see this department lasting much longer the way it's going.

workers don't know their own value because literal billions go into indoctrinating them to think they have no power plus police and other entities are used to keep them down at times

How does that make me sound like I'm on their side? We know for a fact that employees speaking up on their own doesn't work. The risks are way too dangerous and can severely mess your life up. The changes should be made at the top, and if the rich CEOs don't want to do it than it should be enforced by legislators.

Expecting people to give up their only way of putting food on the table for a morally just cause that should be done by the people putting them down in the first place is grossly immoral and out of touch.

That cartoon is dumb, if those people stand they all get fired and replaced. Even if they can't all be replaced at once the fat cats will still make by.

Yes, and many other changes.
But that was not taught to people.

I'm real ground level Woody Guthrie thinking when it comes to Unions, but I have met so few other people who see it that way.

And now it has devolved to people who know how to work the system.
They provide some benefits, but they don't cover as much ground as they should.
