I dont have the one-to-one experience of people doubting my capability due to my experience, but I feel I can relate on a more micro level since recently on dates, the server tends to put the check down in front of the man, and I just want to protest that kind of ideology. I think its so cool to read about you having been able to make your own dreams come true in spite of the reductive way people had treated you on your way to making that happen. These kinds of stories make me want to work even harder! I know were just strangers on a message board, and only know each other through words and pictures in boxes on a dying website, but I really do believe reading your perspective on things enriches my experience on this board. It bothers me a bit since I worry it looks too manly, but it seems to be popular with the type of man Im attracted to, you know the ones who can pick me up or REALLY hold me down, so Im gonna say its fine for now. At some point, I might have realized that youre not only kinda like the guys Im really attracted to, you also called me pretty (boy what nerve!) and as a result of that I might have developed a teensy bit of a crush on you so then at some other point I might have been looking in the fitness topic to see if there were some progress pics (~~there were not, yall are nerds talking about stats and shit~~) and all of a sudden Im reading this bullshit about you got a wife! I had a sincerely distressed emotional response to this heartbreaking news, and I called my best friend and I was so depressed and inconsolable and hes like omg omg whats wrong? and Im on the phone crying HES married! and my friend has no context whatsoever so hes trying to comfort me. Which works after a few minutes, so I explain where I know of you from and how its not super serious but I was due for a cry anyway so it might as well have been about that and this fucking man manufactured an impenetrable voice of disinterest to say, that sounds sad Kat, I gotta get back to work now. Half of my shirts were bought to be tight in my midsection to show off that I'm not hiding a pooch though. I actually judge a lot of my weight loss progress by an honest tight fitting pair of jeans/shirt. --- I don't believe in belts. I definitely have to temper myself against tendency to meet a person and immediately want to be like, dont worry, the children are gonna have AWESOME names. I think those are really good tips as far as understanding how to dress yourself to bring out your best features, more people should understand things like that and how they can really improve ones confidence. I definitely use clothes (and posture!) to mitigate the appearance of the effects weight loss has had on my body, and its taken a lot of time and effort to acknowledge that some of the things I really dislike the appearance of are not fixable without surgery. Thats been a pretty recent breakthrough for me recently in helping disentangle my self esteem from some of those things to relax and feel better about my appearance.
