I'm not an expert but my channel's found some recent success, though it's not gaming related. I checked out your channel and here's some pointers:

  • Branding is everything at first glance. Make sure you have a unique, memorable channel name and decent-looking banner + logo design. It doesn't have to be the highest quality but just something competent and eye-catching.
  • Make decent-looking thumbnails that catch viewers' attention but don't stray into clickbaity, overtly-Photoshopped territory
  • Don't make content that you feel you're obligated to create in the pursuit of viewers. You won't have fun doing it and it'll show in your content.
  • If your content is visually something that can be found on many other channels (gameplay footage, reviews, etc.) compensate for it with some personality, whether it's clever editing or voiceover where you're comfortably being yourself.
  • If your channel's going to be mostly gameplay footage, make an intro for each video basically being a short highlight reel, or perhaps a notable moment from somewhere in the video that'll catch someone's eye at first glance.
  • If you exclusively use native sharing tools (Xbox DVR/Game Bar, PlayStation Share Factory, etc.) for gameplay, you're limiting yourself. Try to get a capture device which will allow you to save gameplay footage for further editing.
  • It's okay to plug your channel elsewhere; just do it sensibly. If you're that serious about it you could perhaps make a Twitter or IG/Tik Tok account for it; the latter two being more suited for short-form video. In this case, short highlights from your videos. There are some subreddits which let users plug their content.

Dedicate the first two minutes of each video to sternly lecturing and berating your audience. Say you've looked at the analytics and not only are people not watching the full video, but they aren't subscribed. Tell them what you do a service and you demand to be compensated for your work. Then as a makeshift transition to divide the pre-video message and the rest of the video, lean in to the camera and make a weird gameshow buzzer sound.

Youtube's analytics likes consistent viewer engagement. So in essence you want to find a niche and apply a hyper focus. Drift away from your niche, losing view counts, and Youtube will all but refuse to recommend your videos.

You might be fine with that if Youtube is just a side hobby. But if you're hoping for a payday out of it you'll be zeroed in on those metrics.

Dark Shaman Gaming is the best name you can have! so unique

Youre definitely going to go far by relying exclusively on gift cards for views. keep that up! definitely keep NOT be entertaining at all in any way. Every successful channel is entertaining to their fanbase someway so that market is oversaturated, keep being uniquely boring. its almost like a bored teacher giving a powerpoint presentation. i like that
I really like the below-average gameplay paired with no commentary at all too cant wait to see what kind of gift cards are in the next video.
Also. keep making one part of the video twice as loud as the other part paired with bad mic quality. it keeps the audience engaged
you need more #hashtags
Cant wait to hear about gift cards again. im very happy i watched part of that

The first guy had good info

If youre already thinking about success you are starting wrong, just make content that you get enjoyment out of making, and the enjoyment will shine through in the content and not feel forced

I've recently picked back up making YouTube videos too. I don't have any advice though. I have a capture device but I'm too lazy to use it and just use the PlayStations capture and upload directly. I need to learn to properly edit stuff.

Good luck, hope you have an enjoyable and rewarding experience with it.

Imo there really needs to be a good youtuber that covers indies that aren't popular, there are a bunch of gems I come across for cheap, and find there is next to nothing about them online. Maybe a weekly indie sale spotlight or something where you buy a game for a dollar or two and talk about it. I'd be more inclined to watch someone that didnt cover the same stuff everyone else does.

Eradicate but vindicate as "progress" creeps along. Puritan work ethic maintains its subconscious edge, as Old Glory maintains your consciousness.

There are channels that attempt to do that. Splattercatgaming comes to mind. He tends to do 30-45 introductory videos about indie games.
