This series is campy and weird, but I like some of the characterizations.

I'm also a fan of Eric Bauza's animated voice work. He's like a young Frank Welker with similar range.

I've never liked the designs of the main cast for that show but I have seen some fight scenes and they are pretty spectacular.

Haven't seen all of the show (mostly the important episodes and a few random ones), but it has some of the best fight choreography in cartoons.

It's weird because I have no serious issues with the art other than it doesn't look like what I expect the ninja turtles to look like at all. At that point I'd probably like it more if it were just a new property.

The 2012 series was dark with splashes of levity. The Michael Bay movies were Michael Bay movies. The 2016 series gave them a Ren & Stimpy look. The video game revivals channel the 1987 series with varying degrees of censorship. The IDW comics are bloody mature. And now we're back to the look of the 2016 series, but with body designs straight out of Sonic Boom.

Some people complain about Batman being too moody. Some people complain about Marvel movies being quip-heavy, but that's exactly why they succeed. Success is built upon meeting expectations. You can't meet expectations if people don't know what to expect. If people don't know what to expect, they just stop caring. If TMNT is meant to be dark, let it be dark. If TMNT is meant to be light, let it be light. But pick a side of the road and stay there.

(this is a followup movie to the Rise series, that's why it looks the same), and eh tbh with TMNT every version ends up being really tonally different to each other (or even between its own seasons, considering what 87 and 03 did later into their runs), so I'm not too bothered

From what I've seen, the jokes can be fun, but can also be pretty loud and fast paced. As for streaming, maybe netflix since the movie will air there? Either that or Paramount+ since it's Nick (idk I did yar har)

Tbh I think TMNT's strength is that is can go dark, kid-friendly, and anywhere in-between and still feel like it hasn't lost its identity.

But imo if they're going to be experimental like that they should probably let a kid-friendly version and a teen/YA version coexist. Sort of like how Marvel had Avengers EMH and SuperHero Squad airing at roughly the same time. <_<

I actually really enjoyed the 2012 series. Need to rewatch that at some point. It's up there with the early 2000s series for me

Ok watched it, better than expected tbh.. Although there's something about it that makes it feel like TMNT isn't for me anymore lol. It's probably for the best though, not like teens are going to sound like 80's surfers these days. And the vehicle cgi was a bit weird, but otherwise, yeah. Better animation than the one I grew up with, would be a liar to say otherwise.

The "Krang" which iirc was a 2003 change to the name of the Utrom, when they were taking people over it kind of reminded me of when Krang took over Shredder's body in the old Archie comic for a while, except he just sort of absorbed his head and sat atop him.

I don't mind them not being blood-related. To me what made them brothers was being raised together by Splinter. I don't recall their pre-mutation relationship being brought up very much outside of as a way to explain the origin story. (And that one time in the Saban show where they wanted them to be able to simp for Venus without it being incest <_<)

I am kind of love-hate on the visuals though. It's a different take that's not really for me, but the animation is fantastic and there's enough genuine style that I can appreciate what they were going for.

From what I've seen from the show, the art style is... different, but I don't completely hate it.
With that said, the show is really stylish and have some downright amazing/stylish action sequences.

My biggest issue with it was the writing and the runtime -- each episode where about 11 minutes long, so it was really fast paced and they had to get through the episode's plot quickly. It wasn't enough time to make the characters feel like they were growing, and the humor aspect of it was kind of obnoxious and more miss than hit.

It's definitely a show you watched for the crazy animations during the lit fight scenes.
