No. That Hari Kondabolu is the one that deserved to be cancelled. If he learned to actually watch Apu led episodes of The Simpsons, he would have learned how much development they gave him throughout the show's run. He was more than just a character who ran a convenience store. There was more to The Simpsons than the family.

The longer the show goes on, the higher the chance more stuff will get canned

But yeah, I didnt see a problem with Apu

Do you know how many convenience stores I've been to with an Indian guy behind the counter?

In a show filled with buffoons and ass holes for the sake of comedy, he was portrayed as neither and possibly the most positively-portrayed recurring character in the show.

It's fucking madness that he got canceled just because a TINY minority of online twitter twits REEEE'd really hard about it.

There wasn't anything more wrong with him than the rest of the show. The most questionable element was the accent, but they do stereotypical accents for other groups.

The changing of Hibbert and Carl was also annoying, since they didn't even try to find a VA with a similar-sounding voice. And if they're going to pull bullshit like that, they should unretire characters whose VAs died.

Yes exactly. I saw a clip of Hibbert's new voice. So fucking awful. The laugh was the best part of the original voice.

It was just another example of reverse racism. Minorities are not allowed to be portrayed in the commercial world. Just like how they got rid of Uncle Ben, Aunt Jamima, and the Land O Lakes Indian girl. If you're not a white male, your mere existence is considered offensive.

Well that answered my question. I don't actually watch the show anymore. Haven't in years so I wouldn't have noticed. They just decided to quietly phase him out slowly and didn't feel the need to make it a grand gesture by announcing to the world what they were doing. They just did what they felt was right without begging for public brownie points.

It still seems silly and unnecessary to me. Whatever, I'm not emotionally invested in any of it. But imagine if they decided to get rid of all of their "offensive" stereotypes.

I think the only negative sterotype was him running a convience store. Never understood that being negative though as the sterotype usually includes them owning the store as far a I'm aware.

Oh I totally agree. That's why I put the word offensive in quotes. It's not how I would describe the character but it is the word that the outraged were using. Apu was a kind, generous man with a solid work ethic and did everything to take care of his family. Even going out of his way to help friends and the community in general.

Yeah I got told I was subtly racist once cause it came up in conversation hoe I felt about Muslims and I said couldn't speak on it as the only ones I've met was behind the counter at a gas station. But that was true up till that day. Those Muslims owned the stores though.

Well I should say middle easterners cause a couple I'm not sure if they where Muslim based on my limited knowledge of the religion. There was one guy that fit all the stereotypes of a Persian. Like he was literally a walking sterotype.

But I'm from the south where the majority of our diversity is white black and Hispanic. Everything else Is majorly in the minority.

That's a lot better than the actual voice. They should have just kept the same voices but gave them reduced roles and hired more actors for new roles.
