Honestly I said that about Depp mostly based on an anecdote from Roger Ebert's review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas where Ebert brings up Depp getting arrested for trashing a hotel room in a drunken stupor, sarcastically asking if that was research for the film. And apparently Depp had a bit of a "bad boy" image back then. That plus some horror stories from the productions of some of Depp's recent films, perhaps most notably Pirates 5 made me wonder about him being like this all along. Not saying I don't side with Depp against Amber Heard though.

I'm guessing the third is why it's going to trial despite him not having a lawyer. He's representing himself for $$$. Even if he loses, he's expecting appearance fees and such for other things, and may have written a book he wants to promote. There's no advertising quite like negative press covfefe. All he has to lose is time. He has no lawyer to pay and Johnny's not counter-suing (at least not yet). Even so, I expect him to get eviscerated. I can only imagine Camille saying "You're trying to attack Johnny's character for your own fame, aren't you?" as this guy cracks on the stand. Camille is a defamation specialist but after her performance in the Turd trial, Johnny will want her there so he can sue this guy's ass after the trial for defamation, or at least threaten to.

That said, even though this is absolute folly, I gotta admire this dodo's testicular fortitude by representing himself against the big dogs. That's probably the only nice thing I'd have to say about him based on what little I know.

If his only statements are within his lawsuit, there's no defamation because statements in a lawsuit are protected by litigation privilege. Otherwise, lots of winning parties to a lawsuit would file follow up suits for defamation.

Yes, it's well known Depp has had substance abuse problems. He's admitted this himself, so what exactly were you trying to contribute?

Unless I'm misreading, everything says that the accuser in Depp's next trial has a lawyer. He isn't representing himself.

He likely expected a settlement with the upcoming pressure of the Amber Heard trial, and he likely expected that settlement to be solidified because he assumed like most people Amber would have won that trial, making it more likely Depp would settled to get that one away.

Obviously that didn't happen, and now he's stuck with this upcoming trial that he may still try to get out of before it hits the court room.

But if he's banking on getting appearances and such to make up for the ridiculous amount of money he's likely spent so far, it's not going to make up for it. Not only that, he's also likely to pay for attorney's fees after they waste all this time with an obviously fake story. So he's just continually losing money at this point.

All this makes sense. Forgive my ignorance on 1) how legal fees and such work and 2) about defamation. I'd thought that, if your false accusations cause negative press covfefe and you partake in interviews of lies and such, that you could still be sued, but I'm no lawyer so I'm not the person to ask. Thanks.

I had read something about Brooks representing himself pro se during the Amber Heard stuff. Rocky Brooks is the guy Johnny supposedly assaulted, and they were talking about Mo Brooks, who is in a case with Donald Trump.

So my fault on that one. From what I can tell Rocky Brooks in the Depp case does have a lawyer.

He should honestly be suing you for defamation for mixing him up with Mo Brooks, lol.

At this point, Depp's team should be filing an injunction because these lies are absurd. I'm sure they don't want to bring her to court over these claims too, but they'd need to wait and see if there are damages. But fuck, she just can't stop and let it go.

People complain about Amber Heard, but I remember a topic years ago when a dentist pulled out all of her ex-husband/boyfriends's(don't remember) teeth, and people made jokes like "I got 99 problems, and 32 of them are my missing teeth". I doubt there would be jokes if the genders were reversed. That dentist is also a piece of shit. Why did she get a free pass?

I genuinely don't though. Sometimes you just have to identify the source of the problem. Depp wasn't bringing in the dough, so his career was suddenly vulnerable and studios were quick to drop him. Meanwhile Heard co-starred in the billion-dollar hit Aquaman. To provide some other examples of this phenomenon at work, The Weinstein Company's last movie prior to his scandal has a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes and two of Kevin Spacey's last three movies (including his last starring role Nine Lives) have similarly low scores. Also, all three films were box-office bombs (though I'm struggling to think of movies with sub-15% RT scores that weren't. Even now I can only list three off the top of my head and at least one of them is pushing it).

And then of course these are the headlines and what the MSM uses for this. Not that they said that her claims were unbelievable and her evidence didn't match any of it, and not that they thought she was the aggressor, and not that they didn't have social media so that had nothing to do with it. They're just such trash.

A few things to note here:

• It's good that the jury recognized that Amber was being disingenuous. Like... her demeanor would change on a dime depending on what point she needed to get across. It makes literally everything that comes out of her mouth hard to believe.
• Still don't think Johnny was abusive. Being difficult to live with does not constitute abuse. Abuse is deliberate, whether conscious or subconscious. Amber knew what she was doing, but she had this innate need to beat up on somebody for self-gratification. Johnny isn't like that. He is an openly flawed person; with him, you know what you're getting. And yet he tries. In Amber's blackmail video, he held back from laying even a finger on her despite being intensely dysregulated. She was just fucking with him to get leverage that, in turn, made it clear who was playing games. It wasn't Johnny.
• Amber is still so clueless as to not understand how fake she comes off as. She's not a good actress. Johnny wasn't even acting; he wanted to show himself for who he truly is. He wasn't playing a part. Amber was. This is why she was a jury goat. She's the kind of person you want to sit next to in the finale because nobody takes her seriously.
• This all still amuses me. That's good, right?
