Its nuanced. He says he for criminal justice reform, but the big catalyst for all of this was during the start of covid. He was described as being lenient for violent crime, including downplaying some attacks on elderly Asian Americans during Covid

I don't live in SF so I don't have a dog in the race. But reading his Wikipedia there are some kind of troubling things that would bug me.

Like the below. Now there isn't much context but is that saying he won't go after undocumented/illegal DRUG DEALERS because they will be deported? I don't give a shit, they should be for dealing drugs.

I guess. I think what we've seen though, is that it doesn't take much for people to become "tough on crime" advocates. And I don't say that to minimize the damage that crime can do. Violent crim is truly harmful to people.
Yet to make meaningful (in my opinion) changes, the way we punish people for violent crime has to change.
That's not going to happen though.

The fact that one of the most liberal areas in the country is voting down this guy doesnt bode well for progressivism nation wide

Boudin won a divided race with only a plurality, and then lost a recall where he needed majority support (without an opponent to campaign against) to survive. It sucks, and the the amount of money that was spent on ousting him is concerning, but I think there are unique structural factors at play here that aren't applicable to the country as a whole.

Yeah, we should probably increase police funding so we can have more cops that can go after those who steal from Walgreens as well as well the DAs to be more strict for those stealing crimes.
This is what people want right?

I mean, I'm actually for more police funding so we can increase the talent pool and put more resources into crimes that truly matter. I don't want it so we go after petty crimes.

Apparently violent crime actually reduced during his tenure, but IMO (and as a resident californian) that's not enough. People are basically smash and grabbing stores at will, and that needs to change.
