How many guns do you need to do absolutely nothing with?
When the republicans go crazy, start forming militias and begin executing liberals in the street, you'll wish you had something to protect yourself with, especially with the police skew as conservative as they do.

This is why people were reluctant to vote for Biden to begin with. It has come full circle and a lot of Republicans feel vindicated, and even Democrats betrayed.

The next election is not going to bode well for the Democratic party.
Yeah, because care more about fantasies of using their guns against the big bad Democrat government than they do about protecting the rights of innocent minorites. I don't see gun nuts taking up arms to defend LGBT people against governments threatening their freedom.

Well go ahead. Tell me how not being able to buy guns hurts poor people.
Everyone has a right to defend themselves. Thats the most important thing in today's age. Especially those that are under the boot the most.

Then you have those that literally hunt to survive. They are much much less common today, but still exist. These are people that would get absolutely ruined if they had to pay an insane tax on their tools of survival or an even more idiotic recurring tax that some ilk itt suggest.

You want people who own guns to try to overthrow the government for a cause that makes quick progress all on its own to begin with? That would make gun ownership OK for you? If people were bleeding in the streets for a group that's hardly marginalized anymore?

Last thing I'll want is to protect myself in that world.

Yeah we'll make quick progress when the party that is about to take over for a long while has promised to undo all that progress and more.

And honestly I hate lies and hypocrisy far more than I do gun ownership. These arguments of protecting freedom and fighting against tyranny are bullshit. I'd rather have awful honesty. Who the hell are these transparent smokescreens people use for?

Seems like a dumb policy change. It may delay things for some offenders, but these people are driven by rage or hate and will just save up more money eventually.

I agree that these types of firearms are the ones to focus on if your concern is mass shootings, but I don't think this will do anything other than being something else the rep can put on their voting record as "See! I care about gun violence!"

Right to defense does not necessitate a huge arsenal of semi-automatic weapons. It is far away from the most import thing today. Not sure how you got so backwards in thought.

It is INCREDIBLY rare to find anyone hunting for survival.

The hunting population is only 6% of all Americans, basically none of them are hunting for survival. And most people don't even have a problem with hunting. You just don't need semi-automatic guns with high capacity magazines to hunt.

I don't know what your response is even talking about, but I don't think that people need to start taking up arms for LGBTQ, who are a community that are seeing rapid progress faster than any other minority, historically, and systematically alienate people over the smallest social misstep and disagreement.

Good luck on your causes, there is no reason we need to take up arms for them and you are deluded for suggesting other people fight your battles.

They're (most of them) making fun of actual republican politicians who have used that argument to deflect blame from guns.

Yes, but in that time they may a) be reported by someone and be handled with accordingly, b) decide it's not worth the time and effort to work that much to get a gun, or c) get over their rage/hatred.

Like, I absolutely see the merit, but if the goal is to time-gate purchasing a gun, then imo a better option is more rigorous background checks and longer waiting periods while closing loopholes that circumvent those measures.

It's also entirely reasonable to restrict the kinds of firearms you can purchase at certain ages. Heck, maybe incorporate a license system where you have to be a (responsible) gun owner for x amount of years before you can purchase certain kinds of guns and accessories.

I don't 100% agree with Cryic that guns aren't necessary for self/home defense in our current society. And so long as I believe that, then I also believe that there should be equal access between classes and social groups.

But we should also take steps to prosecute the gun lobby, gun manufacturers, and media outlets that have all but promoted so many of these killings.

Ok, what groups do our freedom-fighting tyranny haters need to take up arms to defend currently?

We are the most oppressed group in the country, and the Republicans, who will undoubtedly win in the midterms and likely win the next Presidency, have made it a promise to their constituents that they will undo LGBTQ+ progress in the name of protecting children and restoring "religious freedom". They have already made a number of moves at the state level since all they need is the worst from the federal level to expand their agenda.

As someone who cares about actual freedom, I don't think innocent people should need a map to figure out what parts of the country they are free to visit or move to without fear of violating some law with a serious penalty.

People actually think that arming teachers is a good thing? Putting another firearm in the hands of another UNTRAINED individual and expect Mrs. Smith of her 3rd grade class to go full on Rambo on some school shooter so the the cops, who are actually TRAINED for these sorts of situations, are just sitting outside doing nothing? GREAT F'N IDEA!
