There's an episode where Troi loses her empathy and she's ready to quit because she can't serve as a counselor without her ability to read emotions. So even the one thing she is qualified to do only works because she has an advantage that other counselors don't have. She is useless.

So... about Garak.
It's like Heinrich Himmler decided to open up a T-Shirt store at the mall, after the war.

I was thinking the same thing. But it also means every ship should have an empath in that role. And even if very ship does, couldn't the flagship of the Federation find a more qualified empath than Troi, who seems to have no skills whatsoever outside of being an empath?
And even then, she typically doesn't say much that can't readily be picked up on by non-empaths as well.

Is it weird that I would watch a series that was absolutely nothing except Bashir and Garak sitting around and discussing the arts? Them arguing about Cardassian literature are some of my favorite scenes in the franchise >___>

Fun fact: Siddig and Robinson seem to think that Garak and Bashir should have dated. Robinson actually stated that in their first meeting, he was playing it as if Garak was angling for a date. They even once did a reading of a fanfic where the two of them were married.

Bashir ended up going where I definitely did not expect, and it was awesome.

Then... who serves the drinks? Data is by far a better bartender than Troi could ever be.

Nah, they're bros.

I've seen a lot of male friendships that could be considered gay. Bashir and O'Brien aren't one of 'em.

Fun fact: Russell Watson sang the cover that was used for Enterprise. Rod Stewart's version of that deeply terrible song was used on the Patch Adams soundtrack.

Yes, everybody remembers the episode "Threshold" it is notoriously known by Trek fans as a horrible horrible episode of television and possibly the worst episode of all of classic trek.

Which means it's almost as bad as the best episodes of Star Trek Discovery.

Ehhhh, neither of those seem ok on here. Doesn't really matter how much it's talked about or how old it is. The only thing that's acceptable is stuff that's been advertised as such in ads or whatever.

Still, this is a pretty chill topic tbh, so probably nobody marked TC.

It's a reference to the original series

Scotty tries to get an alien drunk and describes a drink as "It's green"

Then it goes full circle as Data tries to get Scott drunk and does the same

Voyager had an excellent premise, a good cast, and the advantage of being able to learn from the successes and mistakes of TNG and DS9. Instead , they played it safe, producing a bland series that could easily be syndicated. The sheer waste of potential is just sad.
